To Whom
I get you'd like to control SALES on your auction site, but since when is answering a question from a buyer ( confirmed ) questionable
that I might be TRYING to sell them something OFF SITE ( no commission etc ) This individual is in the process of paying for an item won on YOUR SITE, so guess what - YOU ALREADY GOT COMMISSION ETC, so what is it you're really attempting to keep from happening?
I'd like to inform before you go off half ( normal for your site ) cocked, NO PHONE NUMBERS WHERE BEING EXCHANGED, NO EMAIL ADDRESSES WHERE BEING EXCHANGED , and NO PRODUCT was being attempted to sell or exchange.
SO WHAT THE _____ IS THIS SITE 'S PROBLEM
If ( EBAY ) is losing that much business ( commissions etc ) to their customers selling off their site, MAYBE you'd do well to look into what would GET solid sellers to LIST MORE, instead of trying to CONTROL EVERYTHING at the etc, etc, etc,
AH TO ___ WITH IT , I know I'm a slave , CORPORATE HELL bought YA'S OUT so why WASTE me time. Live with what the SLAVE MASTERS allow.

I realize that .... that's happened to me too. I just think it's so ironic that eBay is so intent on preventing e-mail address exchange (God forbid they should lose their 10%) that we are forced to use the personal e-mail address in the end!

JT, every site is like that. I search on Kijiji for "convertible" and I get 4 door sedans with a new catalytic converter.
"Conver" is inside convertible. It searches for stings inside words. I will sit and stare trying to figure out the connection, sometimes.

Almost everything can be found there.

"I had addressed the buyer by name in the message and her name contained the letters "aol"."
I think I'll change my real name to Dot Com and sign every message I send to buyers that way.
And I'll write it backwards!

Well, come to think of it, you could write a whole message backwards, and tell your customer at the beginning to print it out and put in front of a mirror. Boy, eBay would have to write a whole new programme to deal with that!
Why not just let us talk to our customers as we like, provided it's after a sale is made?

You are making sense again. You might want to look into correcting that.

Yeah, it's become a rather nasty habit of mine -- making sense, that is.

Are you aware that ebay are now charging you 10% on all your postage costs. E.g if you charge $3.50 they take 35p

Old news for eBay.com and eBay.ca. FVF on shipping started in April 2011 for Auctions on non-store account (Fixed Price started in July 2011) and for stores Auction and Fixed Price in July 2011.
eBay UK started shipping FVF on July 31 2013.
I do not know about other eBay sites what their status is on shipping FVFs.

That is not true. I pay 8% on the lowest rate charged. The average rake of FVF on shipping that ebay takes from me? Around 5%. Exchange rates at around 11%, I am making 6% after their cut. How is this a problem for me?
