I have been trying to find the correct code to ship empty DVD cases. I put in every key word I can think of, and the closest I got was when I put in DVD but it came back media, which this is not media it's the case to hold the media in, and there is no media lol. I really in truly hate this new HS thing, just one more thing to make us use Couriers instead of Canada Post. The postal increases weren't enough, now this bull **bleep**?

Since the DVD case is made of plastic, I think I would use 392690 - Articles of plastic, other.

What I do when I want an HS Code is do a Google Search with words like this
HS Code DVD Plastic Case.
Then up comes various import/export sites with actual products and I find something like this in one of the top links
392310
• Description
Boxes, cases, crates & similar articles of plastic
• Goods ever classified under this HS code
packing box, dvd plastic packing box, dyeshadow case, dyestuff turnover barrel, earplug box, edge
Then I verify if it makes sense in the Canadian Importers Database by using the HS Code lookup
http://www.ic.gc.ca/cgi-bin/sc_mrkti/cid/cid_e.cgi?func=start_search&search_type=by_product
If it matches the CID database above, then I use that code.
Much faster than looking up in the above database directly using the Search by keyword. So far it is working well doing this.
We are not the first sellers to need HS codes. Search by Google with the actual product name in a real word description with HS code. Many exporters of the same products have had to figure out the HS Code for selling large quantities.
