Kathleen - it's always a dilemna. The question is...how much do you value your reputation? Now, having said that...you don't want to acquire a reputation for being a patsy, either.
My personal policy is this...if the item I sell is exactly as I described with no errors and no exagerations then the item is considered SOLD. You don't have to go into the red trying to please the unpleasable. It's my experience that negatives don't just come from refund refusals or inaccurate descriptions...they can come from...
1) people who have no idea how feedback works
2) people with nothing better to do than complain and whine
3) people who's expectations we couldn't possibly meet no matter how hard we were to try.
You can make yourself ill trying to please everyone in life and at the same time put yourself out of business. If you are like the majority of people, you are selling on ebay to make money....not to pander to the moods of people who truly don't understand how ebay works and what it costs the seller to to their job. IMHO
