Anyone agree that some U.S sellers charge outrageous shipping costs to Canada for used sports cards?

There seems to be a lot of sellers from the U.S.A selling used sports cards to Canada with high shipping costs plus import fees etc.  For example if I bought a card for $100.00 I would be expected to pay approximately $50.00 more for shipping and duties.  Why would a seller do that, and why would a buyer pay that.  I think sellers who do this are hurting their profit margin.   Without these unnecessary charges I think these sellers would get more bids and a higher profit margin.  I get the impression a lot of U.S. sellers would rather not ship to Canada, and include these fees to discourage international shipping, why not just not offer it and sell within your own borders.   I'm talking about used hockey cards and what do Canadians like?  Hockey.   Wishing for the days when U.S. sellers charged no more than $6.00 small packet.

Gee, we just sold "just a stamp" and will be charging more than it's face value in shipping cost.

It's one of these.
