A while ago we received via an email a $25.00 eBay Gift Card because of "inconvenience"
caused by eBay - see message below.
Terms of Agreement state that this gift card never expires.
Yesterday we made a purchase on eBay and tried to use the gift card
as part payment for the purchase. Card was rejected by PayPal.
Kept getting the message: "We ran into a problem. Try again later."
when we attempted to submit the gift card code.
Called eBay to find out why the card would have been rejected, we were told that the problem was with PayPal.
So we called PayPal and were told (by PayPal) that they there have been "issues" with eBay Gift Cards.
When asked, the CS rep wouldn't say what kind of issues. Said I should take it up with eBay.
Then PayPal customer service connected me back to eBay where another CS rep beat around the bush
and said it was PayPal's fault that the Gift Card was rejected (yada yada yada)
Never did get a straight answer as to what was going on..
Finally gave up. Told them when they figured out the problem to send us an email with the solution.
Anyone else have any problems with redeeming an eBay Gift Card like this?

"Both an eBay account and PayPal account in the US are required to use this card."
Can this be the problem?

I was going to say, "I thought this was an ebay.com initiative." I vaguely recall the problem and the kerfuffle and it was ebay.com that offered the consolation for it since it was their issue.
Did you try checking out on ebay.com?

Thanks to all for the replies.
We registered on eBay in 2000 (when there was no eBay.ca) and have had a PayPal account for many years.
The problem as mentioned would be the U.S. shipping address. We are in Canada.
So with that said, the question is "WHY would eBay send us a Gift Card that they know we cannot use?".
After all, they do have our registration information on file.
Doesn't make sense. And when we contacted CS, no mention was made of the point that the gift card was good only in the US.
To top it off, they (i.e. CS) supposedly sent us another gift card for last night's inconvenience of not being able to use the first one
'because they value us as a customer".
So guess what ---- received an email this morning from eBay telling us how to access the second Gift Card,
but when we follow the instructions to retrieve it -- it does not exist.
I guess they really DO NOT value us. NO honesty here. Too bad.

Give asking Raphael a try. It cannot hurt at this point.
