Are listing pics free?

We have been using Auctiva to list and store pics but will likely be changing to Blackthorne Pro soon and hosting pics on eBay.

Am I correct in the assumption that pics are "free" when one has a store subscription?

Also, does 1200 x 800 px size make sense?

A store gets up to 12 free pictures.
