Attention! A buyer apologizes for low 4 stars DSR rating!

Just got this email. This email is REAL! I didn't write it myself! Of course, I asked, why I got only 4 stars (the item was shipped immediately after I got the payment and I charged only a real CP shipping fee.)

I am sorry if I caused you a problem. There was no malice or ill intent in annotation of 4 vice 5 stars. The E-Bay prompt indicated that 4 stars was reasonable price for S/H. I thought that your pricing for the S/H was fair and that by annotating 4 stars I was providing positive feedback. If I had known that 4 stars is viewed as a negative hit, I would gladly have annotated it as 5 stars. Again, I apologize if you have taken a hit for it. It was not intentional, as my intention was to leave only positive feedback.

I hope that you will accept my apology and I hope to do business again with you sometime in the future.

I think that a lot of buyers leave lower than 5 feedback for the same reason. They don't realize how much stock eBay puts in those stupid stars. If they would make it more clear to buyers maybe we would all get better ratings.

I guess we will have to educate the buyers ourselves before they leave feedback. I may include a nice little note in each package explaining it to them and asking them to rate me on my performance, not my shipper's.

Very few are going to leave 5 stars or Very Reasonable on anything. The system is rigged with the wording set by ebay to ensure that our 5 star rating stays down below the new discount system. Ebay's tactical stategic planning fron a year ago set in place before they introduced the new 5 star system. Another planned unattainable carrot.

How can you say this? It's obvious that even with your not so stellar stars about half of your buyers give you 5's.

There are lots of Powersellers who will get the discount, eBay has stated that currently 75% would qualify for one or the other discount level. With the exception of the shipping stars there are tons of Powersellers with 4.8/4.9 ratings and many of these are very close to the 4.8 across the board need for the maximum discount.

Currently a few hits to your ratings can have a long lasting impact. The new 30 day calculations will help to alleviate this.
