Auction Format popular then BIN format

Hello everyone,

I just kind of concerned after April 1st since eBay integrated new Policy on auction format and BIN. I seen my BIN format are not selling well as it on Auctions Format. Also with Auction unpaid item gradually increasing. I used to like BIN format past two months was pretty good but Auction format was even better.

Any one see the differences?? please recommend.

Thank you

I also had more success with Auctions the last month than usual. I list mostly BIN but I do list a couple of Auctions a day and many of them usually end unsold. And all of a sudden it looked like more Buyers were interested in Auctions.

I'm going to close my store for a week, so I have no active Auctions at the moment.

I guess it's just an up and down and I think Auctions will drive more traffic to your store.

Since all items are now in Search, I question if we even NEED to "drive traffic to the store" any more.

Hi
Even our listing in Best search or Search in eBay core site, Many listing I seen are not getting hits at all worse then store format. Auction format also good method to drive traffic to listing.. Also Adcommerce eBay offer for marketing.

Superdude New System not helping buyer to buy in BIN format only Auctions is getting really big hit for many seller here. Do you see any differences??

In my opinion, "auctions" are no longer the answer to "drive traffic to the store" since all listings are availabe on the same core search. Things have changed on eBay and seller need to adapt to the new reality.

Sellers should instead "drive traffic to their store listings" with regular weekly newsletter (email marketing) and link advertising (AdCommerce).

In addition, while cross advertising within listings is time consuming, it works (linking one listing to another such as blades to razors or batteries to camera or purse to shoes, etc...)

That said, while not as huge as it used to be, there is still a market for auctions. There are millions of potential buyers out there who prefer the auction format - hoping to "win" a bargain.
I suspect "auctions" attract the bargain seekers not willing to pay the fixed price asked by other sellers for similar items.

I will continue to sell at fixed price exclusively.

I'm selling a lot more teflon pieces, mainly because people can find them now, I suspect.

My overall traffic is up a bit, then down a bit - overall, I would say it's up a bit.

It's tough to say what effect on sales it has, since so many of my customers research, research and research some more for months, then buy all at once.

And, of course, my stock levels are very low until I get that new order.

So the upshot is - too many factors to know for sure, as always.

I could see auctions being a way for buyers to deal with the overflow of information they have to deal with.

Perhaps it will even spark a resurgence in auctions as a viable way to sell, but I think that might be short-lived.

There is still at least twp good reasons to use the Auction format.

Auction listings rise to the top of Best Match when they are near to ending. Fixed Price on the other hand gets a bump when newly listed.

Auction sales have mostly lower FVF than Fixed Price.

Some of you keep guessing but is there someone else who took effort to compare performance of auctions and FP items ?

Well I did. 7 day auction+BIN moves 5x better than 7-day FP listing.

The reason? My theory is that eBay likes getting paid. The more you pay, the more visible you are. Does not matter if it's LF or FVF. If you try to decrease your costs by rearranging your model, eBay algorithm detects it and adjusts your visibility.

my auctions have been doing better than BIN but it seems to change ike the wind blows. I know that a relisted unsold auctions get a boost in searches. I find there are fewer bidding wars on auctions...but I have sold nothing in BIN sonce april. I list alot of auctions and also use adcommerce. adcommerce drives business but not sales i find. Kinda starting to think it's a waste of money.....I don't care if 50 people a day see my store if nobody buys it's pointess
I think a mix of aauction and BIN is best for me.....

"adcommerce drives business but not sales i find"

Have you checked your AdCommerce ROI report for the last six months? It tells you how much you spent and how many items were sold for how many dollars.

And, don't forget that some people bookmark your store for future purchases.

"YES " I agree with Superdudes, I seen many customer has bookmark the store it increase than last month.

I also see without adcommerce, there are not much visitor to the listing.. even i have low budgets, still i use adcommerce eBay which helped me last two months to boost the sales, Visitor this months is quite low than March. Still I am seeing sales are normal than expected.

As Comment said by RCPED, I found same things that Auctions get much exposure when it ends then BIN, I use both Auction + Bin like other poster said to get some exposure even it cost a more,

Another things i noticed. My Some lising in BIN format not store format, when i end the listing if item is sold on Auctions, Ebay messages, "your store listing ....ended instead of FP. Fix format good to cancelled Iam referring,

Did anyone notice that messages.
