Auctiva and picture limitations

I thought I would post this in case any one it thinking of switching to Auctiva if they have a lot of listings.

If you have a lot of listings and they are imported to Auctiva, all pictures will be garbage. Auctiva has a 400 Pixel limitation on their servers when images are imported.

In other words, if you want to relist all pictures will be too small for listing. That also goes for any active listings the become unsold.

The only way around this issue is to upload all new images for every listing on Auctiva that was imported. If you don't do this, you have wasted your time and money. To relist a lot of images will be a lot of work

Auctiva does not mention this issue anywhere on their site.

the profiles are there and were applied to saved items. The information in the listing disappeared when the listing ended.

Auctiva just keeps saying that is what is received from Ebay as far as the images and refuse to take any responsibility or do anything about it. It has been an issue for a while.

I believe they have a real problem handling imports properly, live or closed.

There is no longer an issue when importing images into Auctiva.  A workaround has been implemented to circumvent the eBay Trading API returning small images. Now when importing active or closed listings into Auctiva, the largest available image eBay has stored is pulled into your Auctiva account, so relisting can occur with no image changes needed.

Details on the eBay issue related to GetItem/GetSellerList API call specifically can be found here: http://developer.ebay.com/devzone/XML/docs/Reference/eBay/GetSellerList.html#Output  and from Auctiva here: http://community.auctiva.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&f=838609941&m=2317049286&r=6387080386#6387080386

You missed this part:

I'm going to continue to work with eBay in hopes that they correct their API or at least extend it to allow us (and any caller) to request the original image size and not the 400px version they return today.  Because this is a workaround, it's not fully sanctioned by the eBay API usage rules, so we'll be keeping an eye on the process to make sure additional changes from eBay don't break the workaround.

I am the one that has been dealing with Greg on this issue and I do appreciate his work and effort.

Next he will be working on the shipping methods disappearing on imports which means they will all have to be redone.
