Bottom Has Dropped out of eBay BIN Sales...

Yep, that's right, the bottom has dropped out of the eBay BIN Sales, at least for me... 😞

I think it is because of the new search results approach to Auction Style listings versus the BIN format listings, or is it just 'that time of year'??

Anybody have any views/comments on the above?

Can I expect sales to increase next month, or do you think this trend will continue for the next several months because of the new Auction listing search algorithim?

I completed a search recently to find my own listings, even logged out of eBay to ensure being logged in had no effect on the search results, but my listings were so few and far between, I had to go down numerous pages to find even one of my listings, so I narrowed the search down to North America only, then to just Canada. Even with the search results set to just Canada, I still didn't see my listings in the first few pages.

I have most of my listings ending at different days of the month to ensure they are spaced out in search results, but Lord, my listings are lost in "no man's land" or something.

My sales are way down this month, and it would appear that without any Auction listings, my listings would not show up at all!!

Others must be experiencing the same thing as I am... If this is not the trend with other Power Sellers on eBay, then I am doing something wrong with my listings...

Any comments?

Many sellers seem to be experiencing a similar drop. The question was raised earlier on the "Selling on eBay" board: http://forums.ebay.ca/topic/Selling-On-Ebay/I-Need-Some/600035679#1271348457544

It is difficult for me to gauge the situation properly as my eBay store was "on vacation" from March 31st until Monday April 12th.

Sales (both the number of buyers, number of items sold and dollar value) in the last three days are average) are average with no significant difference from the norm (up a bit but not nothing substantial).

Re: Bottom Has Dropped out of eBay BIN Sales...

I'm down a bit, but I'm ascribing that to having no stock for people to buy.

My teflon sales are going through the roof, though.

Hard to say what the reason is, but one clue might be that today is Tax Filing Day in the States. Americans are scared to death of the IRS - most will pay the taxes before paying the rent.

Might have an effect.

Re: Bottom Has Dropped out of eBay BIN Sales...

eBay sales are off by about 20% and the other store by about 10%. However, I do not believe this is due to the new exposure method as our competitors have always listed everything in BIN format anyhow.

I believe it's "this time of the year" (taxes).

Re: Bottom Has Dropped out of eBay BIN Sales...

In my opinion it's a bit of everything. eBay changes had effect on most sellers. Pierre's sales up may be an effect of vacation-end + weekly fluctuations, season and also weather have it's effect too.

If it's a sunny weeked, sales during Saturday and first half of Sunday are abysmal, then Sunday evening is an influx. On the other hand, pattern is easily broken.

The amazing teflon sales may be result of people telling their friends. You keep that product stocked otherwise you loose the momentum, as it happened to me when I let the best product run out and then it took 2-3 weeks to build momentum again.

And btw. this has been already said - auctions are more visible. List, list, list ... Use selling manager automation rules to list them and do not be be afraid even if first 6 days is nothing happening. Actually, your auction works the best at the end of it's lifetime, the 7-day auction should show results during last 12 hrs, or even less if your category is crowded.

If sales are bad, look at competitor who is doing well and mimic.

I agree to that to some extent - before the changeover, I never put teflon in search - sales were next to nothing.

Now they're in search and it's like starting out with a new product.

Dude,

Your teflon is very cheap. Pricewise, I mean... 🙂

We still have some old timers tell us that a 2" x 6" x 6" teflon piece cost them $800 "back in the days"... treat the stuff like it's made of gold...

Maybe if you raised your prices a bit, you might find the balance of enough inventory, to not run out of the stuff, and more money in your pocket ?

And did business ever come roaring back today!

Probably sold about double what we normally do on a Friday.

Even had a customer that said he was at the post office at 11 PM yesterday to mail his tax stuff and now he could concentrate on his hobby again.

I still have a lot of small pieces that I'd like to get rid of.
I probably could raise the prices on everything a bit, but there's a real elasticity to the market if I go up a bit - I've found that I'm better off generating a lot more sales at the lower price, at least so far.

And I've heard that about teflon. I'd like to find a source of Norlon - 1/4" x 6" x 6" piece - $300.00 😮

I saw my sales increase today as well.

Okay...this is completely off topic...but....what exactly is paint ball?

I saw a handpainted sign along the highway between where we live and Melfort and it was an advertisement for paintball. There was also an article in the paper about this place last fall. It showed a picture of HUGE bales of hay...perhaps they make a maze out it?

What is the object of this *sport*?

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Susan

Re: Bottom Has Dropped out of eBay BIN Sales...

Paintball is a sport, (not quite a sport in the sense...), but two teams play against each other in an open field, or in an enclosed building. Kind of like 'capture the flag' game but you use special air compressed guns that shoot small circular thin plastic balls filled with paint. When they break on impact, they splatter a coloured water based paint onto your clothing. The guns that I have used in the past are not very accurate but it is fun regardless.

In an open field, the round or square bails of hay are used as cover when your team is approaching the other teams flag. The object of the game is to capture the other teams flag and return it to your base camp without being shot. Other forms of play include wooden forts used for cover, etc... Lots of running in the game. Similar to war games used in the armed forces. The players where face masks, and other padding for protection.

Typically the magazine on the rifle/gun holds a couple fo hundred paint balls, and has a rapid fire trigger so you can shoot sever paintballs in succession.

There is a lot more to the game, but you get the drift. It is a lot of fun, and I used to play it quite often. The game has now taken on a new level with professional teams playing in tournaments, etc...

And, if you get tired of paintball, you can move up to combat archery, where they fire plastic-tipped arrows at each other!

With real bows!
😮

I swear, these people are trying to get themselves killed.
