If it says "british postal order", then no, you cant cash it here..only in the UK..

I have a few also 😞

If its just a personal cheque then any bank will convert it for you into your canadian account (its about 2.166 exchange)

Seems kinda dumb, doesn't it? If they will cash and convert a personal cheque....why wouldn't they do the same for the money order? Go figure!

I was quoted a $5 handling fee by my bank (TD Canada Trust) for depositing/converting 20 Euros.

Have you tried taking it to the airport and seeing if one of those comanies that converts all kinds of money can cash it? (Hey its worth a try, no?)

It would probably cost me more to drive to the airport than the MO is worth!

I'm still waiting to hear back from my bank. Crazy buyer, said she ALWAYS sends pounds to Canadian sellers...ya right!

I haven't asked my credit union about money orders, but they don't charge extra for cheques in most currencies including pounds, euros, yens, etc. Just the exchange rate and about 7 business days to clear.

Heard back from my credit union (VanCity), and they said that yes they could cash it, for a .75 cent fee.

Hi

I have 2 british postal order and the only way I can clear it is by sending it in 'collection' . The bank told me that it takes a couple of days (30-90) and it cost a lot of fees...maybe the half !!!
