Recently, I have received two neg's due to buyer's not reading descriptions.
In one case, I was selling a pair of used snowboarding googles with some light scratches over the eye. I posted a big bold note saying
as well as big photos detailing. I have politely asked the buyer to revise his feedback but have had no answer after three days.,
Secondly, a buyer recently bought the wrong part, when I clearly stated compatibility, and cracked it while trying to install it. They as well left me a negative feedback.
I have now found myself contacting buyer's (through eBay, and their personal email) before shipping out items because it seems that people are not reading descriptions. In one case, somebody has bought something two days ago, and I've tried contacting them 3 times to get them to confirm the part compatibility but have not heard a response. I'm getting afraid to ship out items. I want to ship this item out, but am having a hard time swallowing the risk as it's the same part I recently got a neg for.
Help me out here, what am I doing right and wrong? How can I help minimize this type of thing. Im thinking of writing a big bold opening liner on my ads now stating "PLEASE READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION."

Put in the Subtitle or Title ..Please read description .. NOT BOLD BECAUSE WHEN I TYPE LIKE THIS IT SEEMS LIKE I AM MAD OR MAYBE BEING RUDE >>> WHAT DO YOU THINK ... LOL
You will never rid yourself of those who do not want to read.. I have tried it all ... What ebay needs is for ever category have New See other details ....
My category doesn't have it and I have about 15 titles that are new but not factory sealed and have had 4 out of about 150 not read that... Not to mention ebay's description is not the same as mine...
For me when I say Brand New I means the disc case and artwork never touched or opened becauise I do get new stuff that has no wrapping and unlike some of my competitors that have the same supplier as me I do not rewrap anything as I feel it's not honest but I bet I am the one with the mad customers andnot them .. I wrote not sealed did they right resealed...
Jus gotta roll with the punches my friend and do you best to make everyone aware ....

You have not been to the meetings, I have. Buyers have a very short attention span. The average buyer has less than a grade ten reading comprehension level.
eBay best practises. If you INSIST on using sentences and paragraphs, this is what is advised by eBay marketing. Words no bigger than two (2) syllables, Sentences of 7 - 10 words. Paragrahs of two sentences. Do not use colours or clever fonts.
Better practise is too use bullet points.
Part: Snow goggles.
Condition: Scratches on lense, see pictures.
Brand: Ima Snowblind.
Refund: Money back.
Shipping: From Canada, 7-12 business days to the USA, Canada 5 business days, worldwide varies.

Well, I guess I am doing it all wrong - I use huge descriptions. I am yet to run into a problem with the descriptions. But, time will tell.
What I do get all the time is emails from potential buyers asking me questions that the answers to, are already contained in the item descriptions. I always answer their questions politely - but part of me wants to type:
READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION YOU IDIOT.

I really like the bullet point idea, and I think I will start incorporating that into my ads. Thanks!

Good Luck with that!!
Over the past 5+ years I've used Large dark print ~ Colour accented words and "Please Read" ~ Please View pics & Read Description".
With some buyers it just Does Not work! ~ just last week a buyer bid on an item and immediately emailed me that she wanted to retract her bid because she "had not noticed the shipping charge"!!
