Actually, in the Phillippines, which is not exactly Asia.
EBay closed their Canadian answer centre many years ago.
If you call between 9 and 5 weekdays, you might get the Utah answer centre. They won't know anything about Canada either, (and are slightly less likely to have heard of Canada than a Phillipina whose cousin came to Canada as a nanny and is now a citizen and working as a nurse.)
I think you misunderstood the clerk.
You will improve your sales if you sell to the USA as well as to Canada. The USA is the world's largest economy, after all. You can also sell to Europe and Australia with confidence.
Don't worry about shipping cost. Your customer can decide whether or not it is affordable.
Further, you will improve your sales by listing in US dollars. All the world understands the US dollar and Americans understand nothing else.
If you list more items you will get more sales.(OK you have restrictions.)
If you can ship any of your items as Free Shipping, which really means adding the cost of domestic shipping into the asking price, you have three benefits.
*Customers love "free" shipping. Even though they do understand that they are still paying for it.
*You have no shipping FVF on any shipping. Free Shipping within Canada, means you can charge $20 (or whatever) to ship to Australia and pay NO shipping FVF.
*You get an automatic Five Stars for Free Shipping on your Shipping Cost DSR.This helps with your seller ratings.
We can only see your 12 month DSRs, and each of those is slightly clipped. It is probable that your five neg and neutral FBs also trashed your DSRs. Anything below a four hurts. It is also possible, if the restriction is recent, that some of your positive feedback was also attached to trashed DSRs. You may be able to see that on your Summary page.
