Can a seller blackmail a friend into making me change my feedback?

I tried to purchase an item from a seller and after I purchased the item I put a note in for the seller to ask that they put on the package "Attention to: 'My Friend's Name'" as I was shipping it to his office (they are drafting pencils). I'd made the purchase for a friend who does not have an eBay or Paypal account (long story short: Paypal doesn't accept his last name because it is only 1 letter). The Seller sent me a message in confusing broken English saying they couldn't ship to a different address(name) and asked to confirm the shipping address (which was the address I had given). I wrote back and confirmed and they replied with the exact same message. Back and forth this went until the seller cancelled the transaction. I left negative feedback for the purely absurd transaction. My friend created an eBay account and I linked my Paypal to his account and he purchased the item himself.

Now the seller is blackmailing my friend, saying they won't ship the item and will cancel the transaction unless I remove my negative feedback.

How in the world is a seller allowed to do this!?! What are my options here or do I not have any except to revise MY feedback on an unrelated transaction just so this dishonest, shady seller will ship the item to my friend that purchased it himself???

that was wrong to leave neg feedback for a start, you cant blame the seller for your mistake, pay pal wont allow a seller to change the name on the acount,or the address ,so you just screwed that seller for something that he cant do anything about

Most sellers prefer to ship to the Paypal address on that buyer's eBay account. It is much easier for sellers versus making changes to an address, not knowing if the item will reach the other address.

Now, I don't know why they won't sell to your buddy if he created a new eBay account. I suggest he creates his own PayPal account in this matter.

After the back and forth communication with the seller, I DID let them know it was fine to ship to me and my registered address and the seller refused and cancelled the order.

My friend cannot create his own Paypal account because due to Paypal policy, they don't recognize his last name because it is only one letter (his last name is literally just a single letter) and Paypal thinks he's trying to use an initial. Which is why I use my Paypal linked to his eBay account.

It wasn't wrong to leave negative feedback if I tried to work with the seller and told them it was FINE to ship to me at my registered address. When they knew I was purchasing the item for someone else they cancelled my order, even after I AGREED to have it shipped to me at my registered address.

If your friend is having trouble with acceptance of his one letter name, he could try writing it phonetically.

O-- Oh

N- En

etc.

His acquaintances would recognize him anyway.

Or he could use his middle name. John Public Q becomes John Q Public.

I have two difficult and double-barrelled last names. Sometimes you have to get creative.

My PayPal account last name has only the first initial and I've been registered on eBay for several years now, without any problems.

How about you try and message the seller and kindly asking them to sell it to you. If they still refuse, try and find that item from another seller.

If all else fails, just create a brand new eBay account and PayPal account and take it from there.

The last time he tried to create a PayPal account, PayPal wouldn't recognize his last name, being it was only one initial.
The whole reason we went through this seller in the first place is that they are the only seller offering the specific items (drafting pencils) as a package.

That didn't work when he tried because he was creating the PayPal account with his bank account/credit card and the name wouldn't match the account he was trying to link it to.
