Can a seller sell an item to someone else before the end date

I made an offer on an item which had 2 days before it ended. Today they tell me it sold, (there was no make an offer or buy it now). Can they do that?

Yep.

A seller is not required to accept an offer. Or to counter-offer. Or to respond to an offer.

(there was no make an offer or buy it now).

Then you are not allowed to make an offer in the first place.

The seller could report your violation.

The seller may have had the item on another site or in a B&M store. EBay frowns on that but sellers are here, and elsewhere,  to sell.
