CanadaPost website does not offer Expedited Parcel ?

Recently I run few quotes and Expedited Parcel disappeared from CanadaPost website. I made sure to use the Business section of the website, it keeps offering Regular Parcel.

I realize the pricing is the same (before PP discount), but I am more interested in shipping time.

Anyone else noticed this ? Is there other way to get quick shipping time quote without diving into Service Standard and looking up by postal codes ?

If you have a Venture 1 card you can log into the OBC (on-line business centre) and use the Express Ship - Canada and fill in the info and it will also give you the delivery times for all Canada Post services. Not as quick as the Calculator but it gets the job done.

I ran into the exact same problem. It seems everytime they update their website it's getting worse...

It's been like that for a couple of weeks. I miss their website that was around about 3 or 4 updates ago!

The shipping time for Regular Parcel is usually 1 - 2 days longer than Expedited. However, if you need exact timelines, then canadaspatchking's suggestion to use a Venture One card is the best solution!

If I'm not mistaken insurance is also not included in the regular parcel vs expedited.

Hi Dipmicro,

Shipping time is the same for Regular Parcel and Expedited Parcel.

Insurance is included with Expedited but not with Regular.

And, if you see ONLY regular parcel...then just subtract 1 and/or 2 days from that time frame as that is what is historically shown.

However all of that being said...I've been using Canada Post all day today to get rates for shipping with Expedited and it seems to be working now!

Take a peek before it disappears again!

Another thing you can do is look under Delivery Standards and you should be able to find the information that you want on their website if Expedited Parcel does not come up for you!

Hope this helps,
Susan

I just checked and domestic expedited still isn't showing for me. I checked both business and personal. I wonder if you are checking rates from a different part of the cp site?

Is this what you are looking for?

http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/pgexppar-e.asp

I use Paypal for all my shipping (well, almost) and have no problems with the various services.

If you ship through canadapost.ca, do you get the 25% discount from PO counter prices on Expedited or is that only through PP?

Insurance is included with Expedited but not with Regular.

Regular Parcel includes up to $100 insurance and Delivery Confirmation

How would you like to ship your item?

Services Prices and Features ?

Regular Parcel
-> Delivery Standard: 8 business days
-> Base Price: $11.21
-> Fuel surcharge: $0.78
-> Delivery confirmation:
-> Liability Coverage (Included): $100.00
-> Tax: $0.60
Optional Services?
Signature option ($1.50)
Mailing Tube ($1.00)
Delivery Updates by email
-- from canadapost.ca

The only CP services that don't include an automatic $100 insurance are the "LP Suite"-- LetterMail/LetterPost/LightPacket. (I believe there are some restrictions on insurance to certain overseas destinations.)

The prices in my example above are from the numbers I put in. It was a 400 gram paperback book going from Ottawa to British Columbia.

I know about those documents, I even know about these:

Rate Codes: http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/prices/FSA_RateCodeLookup-e.asp

Rates of Parcel Services by Rate Code: http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/prices/SBcanada-e-01.pdf

I also wrote a tool that uses above data from CP to estimate rates: http://dipmicro.com/temp/FreightQuote.html

Suspect they removed it because people were filing too many late delivery claims ? CanadaPost "guarantees" the time on Expedited, although service is really just repackaged Regular Parcel - working only when most late deliveries do not to file for refund.

IMO the rate code should be proportional to delivery time, the higher the number, the longer it takes. Perhaps a reasonable estimate can be based on this, good enough for automatic quotes.

Depends -- do you live in Toronto or Tuktoyaktuk?

While most of Canada lives in a narrow strip along the US border, Canada Post delivers everywhere--- eventually.

Even UPS and FedEx use Canada Post to deliver shipments to isolated communities. Snow roads and float planes depending on the season.

Regular Parcel through Canada Post does not include insurance. It is $1.15 for every $100 worth of insurance.

Expedited Parcel is the *perk* offered to businesses...with the first $100.00 of insurance being free and delivery one day earlier than regular parcel.

When I ship parcels, I only ship through Canada Post and do not use PayPal. It's just my personal preference.

Have a good one!

All I can say is this....I wish that Canada Post would enter the year 2011 with better postage rates for all Canadians!

I know there are many differences between the US and Canada and there are many reasons why they can not offer better rates.....

But....it's my wish and I'm sure many others as well!

I guess the one thing that I am very thankful for is that in almost 10 years of being on eBay not one of my mailings has ever been lost. I hope that I may conclude my time here on eBay with that record. My fingers are crossed.

Here's wishing for some sunshine as well here on the prairies! The bridge by our home has been underwater since the beginning of April!

Susan, if you buy Expedited Parcel through PayPal. you get 20% off.

As for the lost parcels, lkooking at my ban list, I had two dubious INR claims from Canadian customers since 2008. Interestingly, they we both 1 month after another in 2010.

Since we started using USPS a year ago, our US customer base balooned. We purchase tracking on every parcel shipment, it costs $0.19 extra and we had 3 lost parcel shipments out of 6000, and they were true lost parcels. Out of all those US shipments, we did not have a single dubious claim. We normally do not give tracking to customers, and we had people messaging us about not received, but they quickly walked away when presented a "Delivered" from tracking so I think if we had no tracking, those would turn into INRs.

I am just wondering if it would help to use PayPal to get the calculations. That's what I do.

The item doesn't even have to be paid through PayPal or paid at all. Just click on the "print shipping label" link within the auction and go through all the steps on the first input screen to get the ship quote. You don't have to go through the final step of printing the label.

I had also found out (much to my pleasant surprise) that you will get a full shipping discount for your non-eBay transactions paid through PayPal if you use the ship label link.

But you can't do that unless the item has already been listed and purchased or am I missing something? I'm usually looking for a shipping price before the item is listed, not once its sold.

You can get the discount using this LINK as well. 🙂
