Canadapost integration with EBAY

Hi Folks,

I'm a Canadapost customer and on a 7500 parcel/yr plan and use Selling Manager Pro.

Writing and printing each label takes way too much time! I sell about 40 items a day, mostly small parcel USA. I estimate a good shipper can do about 10-15 items hourly. Even at minimum wage, that about 50 cents additional labour cost JUST FOR SHIPPING! I would love an application that would integrate with ebay so the label printing would be automatic.

I think the US guys have than with USPS.

Anyways, I talked to my customer service agent at Canadapost about this and she lead me to believe they are working on this. Good news right?

But I think as a community we should put pressure on them to create it faster...

Any comments?

This would be a godsend of sorts. I spend too much time manually doing my own shipping because I do not trust the EST.

Have read some horror stories on these boards that I am not prepared to deal with at this time with respect to downloading blank pdf documents and getting charged for them, desktop version is slow and clunky, etc.

Where with EST do you have to download PDFs, especially ones you have to pay for?

And the desktop version is hardly slow and clunky...it can be used very quickly if you know how.

Some people experience the "blank pdf" problem with the online version - though I've never had that problem myself - but ever since I got the power seller discount and the contract number, I've used the desktop version exclusively, and I love it! It's certainly not slow or clunky!

javax...it wasn't the desktop version I was referring to when I mentioned the pdf documents. I knew that was the online version, and I had heard through reading these boards that the desktop version was slow and clunky. I will stay away from that one.

Why not actually try it before declaring it as such? It's very fast for me to use, definitely alot faster than all this online crap from UPS and FedEx. There's no lag at all when you're using an offline program.

I've actually had problems using the online .pdf with Canada Post's OBC as well. It's not that they've been blank, it's just that the program closes after I've pressed the "Ship" button. Could be a problem with my computer, so I'll try to download the desktop version...Good luck, everyone!

Hi All,

Hope you had a great Canada Day! We agree that we need to offer Canadian sellers a better integrated shipping solution. eBay.ca is working with Canada Post, including the ability to print shipping labels and pay for postage through your PayPal account.

Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Sunset - I have experienced the blank pdf problem several times. This has been either due to my computer running a little slow or problems on their site. However these charges are easily refundable. All you need to do when this happens is go to your history, record the D #'s and let Canada Post know what happened later on and the will refund it no problem. This is a really rare occurence and all it takes is the odd phone call. I find it to be an extremely valuable tool and it saves me loads of time over when I used to do it manually.

Javax - I downloaded the CP desktop version last year. I must admit that it was an excellent program, until one day (of course it was of those days where I had about 30 packages going out), the program printed all of the labels for me and I shipped everything out. 2 weeks later my parcels from that day started being returned to me, some took over 2 months to be returned and some never made it back. Upon investigating when the first few parcels were returned Canada Post informed me that for some reason the program must have never electronically submitted the paperwork to Canada Post! So overall I found the program worked great, and although I only experienced that problem once, it was enough to steer me clear of the desktop version for good!

::Laird - Thanks for the update, Will that chage take effect for 2010? 😉
Just teasing ya..
