Candian Seller & buyer are the worst....

It's just from my humble and limited experience, yours might be different.

it seems with all the buying and selling i've done on ebay in the last few years, Canadian consistently are some of the worst seller and buyer alike.

My latest purchase was for a 99cents item with $5 shipping from a Canadian Seller, after the bidding was closed i have received no notices whatsoever from the seller; sent him an email and was told he sold it to someone else in the meantime, couple more days pass by and still no refund, sent him another email. Now i am told to "Suck it up Bitch" :_|

Ah well, he'll learn when he gets the NonPerforming Seller Dispute, the negative feedback and some onesies in his DSRs.

And of course the email/ Message can be Reported.

A world of hurt for less than a buck. A bargain really.

I would not generalize it as such, there is some polite Canadian sellers out there and there is some bad arrogant Chinese sellers too.

When it comes to buyers, most of my negs come from low-balling Ontarians. Even when driving, I am finding that many Ontario drivers are rude, aggressive, self centered je*ks. We just came from around lake Erie trip, went through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan once Ontarians are not on the road, it becomes quite peaceful. Then when crossing back to Canada, I again noticed cars stuck to me in 1m distance @ 120km/hr when passing the truck or speeding up when you try to pass slower vehicle, passing you, then slowing down once they are in front of you (annoying when you are on cruise control). Btw. Cleveland and Detroit drivers are pretty aggressive as well, but nothing matches Toronto and it's suburbia.

They must not be REAL Canadians. Real Canadians are supposed to be laid back, easy-going friendly types.

At least until you get on the flippin' 401 and get near Toronto. 😄

Gosh, I'm not sure that I agree that Canadians are the worst sellers and worst buyers.

I'm an American citizen who became a dual citizen with Canada around 1995 so that our oldest daughter could compete for Judo Canada nationally and internationally. I've enjoyed the best of both countries as I've mentioned previously in many posts.

I honestly have the sweetest buyers around the world and that includes right here in Canada! Perhaps it's because I sell scrapbooking items and scrappers don't like to fight....they like to scrap with memories!

And, for sure...I wouldn't generalize about Chinese sellers either...however, I am the PROUD MOM OF TWIN daughters from China and our youngest daughter is as well. China is their home country and while traveling for 2 to 3 weeks both times during my travels to China....I met only the sweetest of people there.

Visiting their markets...WILD! Great buys? YOU BET! Loud? OH, YES! Fun? Most definitely!

I can't believe that ALL Chinese sellers are bad. Just like all Canadian sellers and buyers can not be the worst.

I for one consider myself to be a very caring and dedicated seller and throughout my just shy of 10 years on eBay....my customers have told me so.

I spent 6 weeks during the summer of 2009 back home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Yes, the city has grown and with it the drivers there have gotten crazier and crazier and crazier! I-64 is wicked with the morning and afternoon drivers!

Venture to Newark, New Jersey or New York....oh, my....talk about some wicked drivers!

They are all over in BIG cities!

And, then you go to rural Sask where 80 and 90 and even 100 year olds are on the roads going 50 or 60 km....when the speed limit is 100! They are just as dangerous as all of the rest espcially on hilly and curvy highways!

I can't say that I have had any more problems with Canadians than with customers from other countries. I agree that there are good and bad everywhere. (The same goes for drivers...when I was out west on vacation my sister complained that Calgary drivers are the worst in Canada).

Susan, I did not say Chinese sellers are bad. They are simply opportunists, that's all. I work with several wonderful honest Chinese suppliers, and I have run into several not so wonderful ones as well.

As for Canadian buyers - I got 3 negs in the last 2 years and they all were from Canadians, two from Ontario. Only about 20% of my sales are to Ontario

But we did not get it this bad yet here in Ontario: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SKidaZSwJQ

I agree momoftwingles we are pretty hard on Chinese sellers. Unfortunately, a wild west * attitude to the rule of law and a realization that distance an postal rates makes dispute resolution difficult, has resulted in even good Chinese sellers being tainted.

The problem really does come down to "rule of law". Where a consistent legal system is in place, the problem is individual and intermittent. Where there is no rule of law (as in Russia, China, Vietnam, Nigeria) but only random suppression of activities, the bad drives out the good.

* Note that I avoided the obvious wild east joke...oh.... dang.

I'm not so sure about being hard on Chinese sellers since I buy a fair amount of items from Chinese sellers. Chinese sellers are the same as any other seller, there are good ones and bad ones.

I think it's more the QUALITY of the items that come out of China that we are hard on. Since many of the cheaper items, mainly copies and knockoffs, come from China, the buyers tend to be harsher on the seller because that cheap Chinese-made item failed to perform or last to the seller's expectations.

Like dipmicro said, they are opportunists and know there is a market for cheap copies out there, so they are just trying to take advantage of that fact. But quality control isn't something they will concern themselves with, they just want to make sales and money until the buyers become so fed up with the poor quality that the market dries up for the Chinese.

Add in the long shipping times in coming from Asia and that just adds to it, even though that is beyond the seller's control.

Paypal gave me a refund within 24 hours on this incident!
I was expecting to wait 2 to 3 months like usual, but not this time.
I hope Paypal can keep up with this good work 🙂

I think there has to be a demand before the supply? One is willing to buy and the other is able to sell? I myself would never buy cheap copies, no matter where they were made.

There is always a demand, for CHEAP goods. Many people want to save a few bucks so have no problem buying the cheaper stuff...

Until they wake up the next morning to find that cheap compatible cartridge they saved $10 on exploded inside thier printer and left toner dust on thier walls and carpets, or that $10 fake Rolex stopped working about the same time they noticed thier skin was turning green from the watch band and found out they were late for that all-important job interview because they didn't spend the extra money to buy quality. Even the cheapest Timex is better than a fake Rolex.

Even I am guilty of buying cheap stuff from China, but then I have NO expectations of it's quality and can only blame myself if it falls apart. Small stuff such as a $5 remote control for my camera or some cheap flashing LED lights (7 for $3) I can modify to make even better. Once they are modified, I can actually put one on my dog's collar so I could see him easier when I let him out at night in the back yard. In most cases, anything I buy from them I either modify to make better (I love tinkering) or toss in the trash can.

Would I depend on them? NO! Why not? If they break, the manufacturer isn't going to help me, or they will give me such a hassle in trying to get it replaced. In many cases, the seller doesn't even know a damn thing about what makes it work or the theory behind it's workings, to the point that they blame YOU or your printer or even your dog if it breaks down. They just want to sell as many as they can, make money, and when that dries up, move on to something else. They don't issue recalls on thier defective products.

On the opposite side of the coin, there are some sellers from China who take pride in thier craftmanship that I would have no problem paying a premium dollar for, but then those sellers tend to be well known and regarded in certain circles. One such Chinese seller, I bought an adapter ring from that would allow me to use manual focus Nikon lenses with my Canon dSLR and get focus confirmation. There were a few Chinese sellers selling the cheap copies for as low as $10, but I bought off this seller because his products were hand crafted by himself and highly recommended. He knew his product inside out and happily answered any questions I had regarding it's usage. I had no problem paying $30 for it and a year later, it still works great in my camera. This kind of seller is rare and when found, is put right on the favorites list.

That $5 remote? The button broke off the second time it got used. Did I ask the seller about replacing it? Nope, because I knew I would get nowhere. I just threw it in the drawer to use for parts (Like I said, I love tinkering) and keep my genuine Canon RC-1 remote in the camera bag where I know it will work any time I need it.

Given the same item i'd prefer if it says made in italy rather than made in china. Most chinese would prefer buying foreign made stuff as well but that's for another reason.

But then keep in mind that many high quality products are also made in China these days; take a took at your HP or many other laptops, your ipad, iphone; in fact many of the brand name products featured in your favorite stores!

They are talking about exporting high speed bullet trains now to California and around the world.

Have any of your been to China lately?

Hey, you just found another niche product!

It is for dogs (did you know that more Americans have dogs than children?) and it flashes (oooh- sparkly!) .

Sounds like a winner to me.

Yeah, that's a great idea - let's organize a group buy to china!

the problem with dealing with china sellers is you can never be too careful, they believe in Guanxi more than FairPlay; just because the 1st deal went ok has no guarantee that the next one will be.

the society has become extremely materialistic and anything goes to make a fast buck. they take advantage of world situations and claim to be victims from past history. They will sell you anything but give you a hard time if you try the other way.

Hey this is suppose to be a discussion on Canadian buyer/seller experience, who stole the post 🙂
