Conflicting data re: unpaid item time limit on eBay help pages

I'm sure many of you have noticed that the unpaid item process has changed. I am dealing with an unusual situation where my buyer paid for 2 items separately and I decided to refund her and send a new invoice so she could save on shipping and I wouldn't have to pay the flat paypal fee twice. Well 3+ weeks, 3 emails and an overseas phone call to a voice mail later, my buyer is unresponsive. So I thought I might draw out the time before filing for non-payment but wanted to see if the timeline changed.

So if you look at this page it says you have 45 days:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/questions/no-payment.html

But then click on "what to do if a buyer doesn’t pay" and it will take you here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-items.html

The NEW TIMELINE is 4 to 32 days and you must close the case no later than the 37th day.

:^O

Have you tried emailing the buyer at their regular email address? Or were those emails ebay emails?

Could there be a language issue here? Perhaps a babelfish translated email might have more success?

Just throwing ideas out here.

From what I gather, it's still 45 days from date of sale to open but now 4 to 32 days to close after opening the case.

Actually, I like the new system as it's way quicker and one can actually open a case only 4 days after sale date. That aside, it's way simpler than before.

I would go with the information in the last link:

Opening a case
Timeline: 4 to 32 days after the listing ended

The first link is describing they way that it worked before the change so I wouldn't trust any of the information. It refers to 7 days and it should be 4 days....

Open a case in our Resolution Center. If you still don’t get a response from the buyer, or if you feel that you won't receive payment, you can open an unpaid item case in our Resolution Center 7 to 45 days after the sale. Your buyer is notified immediately and given an opportunity to respond. If the buyer doesn’t respond within 7 days, or you’re unable to reach an agreement with the buyer, you can close the case and you’ll automatically receive a credit for your Final Value Fee.
