Delayed shipping, poor communication

This is my first time running into shipping problems on Ebay.



I won an auction on the 16th, paid right away through paypal. Seller's item description says he'll ship within one day of receiving payment.  Yesterday (the 18th), I asked him when he will ship, and he said that he would do it yesterday through USPS.



Today (the 19th), I followed up this morning and no reply.



I'm annoyed that he didn't follow through with his promise to ship yesterday, nor did he provide any explanation+apology why he did not keep that promise.  It doesn't help that he hasn't updated me at all as to what is happening.



Other than leaving bad feedback, what else can I do? 😞  Any advice to make the seller ship my item more quickly?

First- is your Paypal account backed by a balance, your credit card, or your bank account?


The first two are instant. The bank account means you wrote a cheque and it has to clear before he can print a PP shipping label.


You paid on Sunday. He said he would ship on Tuesday, the day after the first WORKING day of the week.


You don't know he did not ship yesterday. You only know that he did not reply to your second email in two days.


What can you do? Just chill out.


If he got it into the mail yesterday, which he probably did, it may not arrive for two weeks. This is mail order. If you need it quickly you either buy it locally or you offer to pay more (much much more) for an overnight service like Priority Post Canada.


On September 28, if it has not arrived, ask him for the Delivery Confirmation number.


On October 14, if it has not arrived, contact the seller and ask for a refund.



You have 60 days to leave feedback. Calm down.

Best advice Be calm about what you do act like an adult about things and do not blow little issues into something big ..  If he doesn't message you just wait a day .. If your not happy about his shipping time leave a low Dsr but no reason to look for something to do to a selller..


 


You could ask for Cancellation and refund if they haven't shipped yet... Maybe seller did ship and just hasn't got back to you.. Keep in mind the majority of sellers on here are also employed elsewhere too..


 


If too much time goes by you can file item not received disputes with paypal but you have 45 days before you have to do that ..


 


Seller Should have honor what they say but it is best to never jump to conclusions ... Take care

Update: so i paid for my item on the 16th, and without any explanation today (the 21st) the seller just refunded my paypal. I am shocked at the utter lack of communication regarding



1.  my earlier requests to ship


2. reason for refund (the purchase has not been cancelled on ebay, but the seller just refunded my paypal payment).  should I ask him to cancel the purchase as well? (because if not, does ebay think that I am still obliged to pay the payer?)



I just want to make sure this is not a scam or anything.

No, you are not obliged to pay, ebay knows you paid once. There is no benefit to you to ask for a cancellation.



The seller may ask ebay to for a cancellation in order to get their fees back. Ebay will send you a message asking if you agree to the cancellation. If you agree..the seller gets his fees back, if you disagree...ihe does not get them back.. Disagreeing will not affect you in any way. If you do not reply at all to the cancellation, the seller can close the request it in 7 days and will then get their funds back.



Becaause of the way the seller handled this, I would be tempted to refuse the cancellation so that they did not recover their fees but that is up to you.

About your suggestion to refuse to cancel: that sounds great! I definitely want to do something to let the seller know I am not pleased at all.  There still has been zero communication as to why he refunded.



I will give him a negative rating too for sure.

Sounds like the seller did not get the price they envisioned in the Auction format. Happened to a lot of us when we were Newbies but we still took the loss & mailed the Items.


 


At least you got your refund. As for the appropriate FB & DSRs, that would be up to you.


 


Don't be surprised If the Item shows up again with a higher starting price.

Thanks for your reply.  I met the reserve price so I am not sure if that was the issue.



Anyway, there has been no communication whatsoever from the buyer.  This is my only negative ebay experience so far, but I have had many positive ones so I am looking forward to more shopping 🙂

I can only offer a guess as to what I think happened.



My guess is that, based on the emails you sent about "did you ship yet, did you ship yet"...the seller was anticipating that you'd either neg him or leave him poor DSR's.



My guess is that they refunded you in the hopes of cancelling the transaction so that you wouldn't be able to leave them poor feedback and DSR's.



The sellers lack of communication to you was not good...but to be fair...your posts above do make it sound like you might be a buyer that is harder than average to please...or a little more anxious than average about shipping time, etc.  Keep in mind that some people make a lot of sales and it can sometimes be hard to keep up with all the "have you shipped it yet" stuff, especially when it's only been 1 or 2 days.



Just my perspective...take it for what it is worth (i.e. not much, lol)

With a Mutual Cancellation, whether the buyer agrees, disagrees or ignores the request, both buyer and seller can leave feedback.


The seller's feedback can only be positive or none.


This is why sellers will go for the Unpaid Item Dispute over an MC, especially if the buyer seems hostile or high maintenance.

I am with bb_cool_stuff, she did not get the price, so she got "sellers' remorse"



You cannot force her to complete the sale, ebay sale is not a court order.



If she sends request for mutual cancellation, decline it, do not let it expire. You punish her by still being liable for fees.

1 day handling mean 24 hour with exception of post office been closing or seller have a very good reason to delay. Treat ebay like a business because it is a business transaction. Paypal payment will show in seller account immediately with (sometime pending) treat people with kindness but don't let anyone take your kindness for weakness. Seller should plan how and when they ship once a listing is up.

Ebay please don't remove my post ! It passed 45 days , so I don't have any other option to complain ! The most important is to warn people not to buy from untrusted sellers !

When buying over seas especially China my expectations were very low, you get what you paid for but never have I been lied too.  I was sent a shipped out message then after a few  days I noticed tracking which was thrilling but ofcourse too good to be true.  The tracking is fake and the seller after 2 days replied to me that it was shipped yesterday lol 4 days late.  Then I got to thinking and really looking at the sellers negative feed back which I in the beginning I didnt take it too heart but after 3 or 4 claims and unshipped items I have learned to play is real safe!  Im a business owner, I would never think to lie to my customers


I just dont understand.
