Do I refund shipping cost when some item arrives damaged?

So shipped 6 cups and 6 saucers.  6 Saucers and 2 cups are broken. I have no problem refunding for items purchased, or full refund of items purchased, but do I refund the shipping cost?

and lets not get started on Canada Post NEW policy of no refunds on fragile items...then why do I have to pay for insurance..etc.

Since 80% was damaged an 80% (80% of purchase price + 80% of shipping cost) refund without having to send anything back sounds fair? or 100% if send back the undamaged goods.

Canada Post never has insured glass or pottery, but you can phone the nice ladies at Customer Service and ask. The problem is that most breakage is caused by poor packaging.

CP is highly mechanized. Your package may at any point drop up to two feet from one conveyor belt to another. The next parcel dropping the same distance could weigh upwards of 50 pounds, right on top of your parcel. Do you pack to withstand that?

You can also try buying third party insurance. Several posters recommend shipinsurance for occasional shipments. We use Hugh Wood Insurance, but they have annual contracts that would cover not only shipments, but also travel to and from shows, shoptheft in your b&m store, "inventory shrinkage", fire and water damage. Their specialty is hobby (mostly philatelic) dealers and collectors. They understand the quirks of collections and collecting.
