You do not need to have a buyer to sell on ebay. It was a never a requirement.

You only charge tax if you are a business who has to collect and pay taxes.

In Ontario, if you sell $30,000 gross annually you must register to remit sales tax. Until then, it's up to you whether you register or not.

Do keep careful records of your sales and of your expenses. You have to pay income tax on your profits.
