Do we actually really have "right" to strike ?

How will this exactly works for self-employed if he wants to collectively bargain and eventually go on strike ?

I will let the group continue lighting torches. I’ve got better things to do. We’re off to the shelter kitchen to help prepare for the Christmas dinner for the homeless and other families who need help. Then we are wrapping presents for the children of those families. Then we are having a meeting to acquire more money so that some families can make their rent and heating bills.

Y’all can discuss being satisfied and adapting to the status quo.

Obviously, Tim Horton's workers in Edmonton have a legitimate grievance because they earn less $$$/hr than their compatriots in Fort McMurray!!!  It's not fair!

never got the memo    -> if you're going to quote me (again) kindly don't cut off the relevant text (AGAIN)

It was  'Apparently Board Boss never got the memo'

'never got the memo' downplays the point of the post, which was  'Board Boss'.

Thank you.

We all make choices in life.  That was your choice.  You feel good about it?  Good.

Today, we drove to Toronto to have our annual Christmas get-together with the children and grandchildren. Instead of serving meal, we ate them.  Instead of wrapping presents, we let the kids and grandkids unwrap the presents we had wrapped a few days ago.

That was our choice. That is how we decided to spend this Sunday and we feel good about it. 🙂

You ate your children and grandchildren instead of a meal?

In order for someone to insult me…….I would first have to value their opinion.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

But for the record, that's not an insult.  It was, like I already stated, a request to 'kindly don't cut off the relevant text'  ( i.e 'Board Boss') and lose the context if you're going to quote, and then make reference  to my post.

Or anyone else's.

I Know!

I guess they were too tired after the drive to bother with preparations for a meal, but I'll bet he'll regret that come next Christmas and there are no children to spoil.

"too tired after the drive..."

Actually that is pretty close to the thruth.... After driving to Richmond Hill and Toronto and back to Belleville, I may have been too tired to check my grammar and syntax (as I get older, I find long distance driving more taxing on my system).

We all knew what you meant (well most of us-1 person checked with 3 friends-I think they were PSW workers--LOL but still couldnot figure it out) but friendly banter is better than the usual attacks on here.

GM moving Camaro production from Ontario to Michigan:

http://business.financialpost.com/2012/12/19/gm-canada-unlikely-to-build-new-chevrolet-camaro-in-oshawa/

CAW is up in arms. General Motors just recently signed a new collective agreement agreeing that we remain competitive. Agreeing that our costs were in line with the competition

We don't know the "exact reason" why GM made this business decision. But it well may be that Canadian unions have shown high level of aggression against employers who did not agree with new collective agreement and in my opinion GM simply did not want to risk confrontation, so they signed new agreement but continued searching for legal way to get out. They will maintain promised commitment of 16% in Ontario until 2016 or pay penalties, whatever is cheaper for them.

We don't know.

What we do know that CAW did not save these jobs by their "collective bargaining". What's even worse (for Canada) is this business owners chose to move from one unionized environment to another and I worked for company who supplied for GM and we know UAW are tough. We did not supply much to CAW plants, but what does that tell you about CAW ?

Nobody can say there were no warning signs: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/auto-makers-tell-union-wage-hikes-wont-happen/article4237437/

Merry Christmas everyone
