Does anyone know why my watched items disappear

Has anyone had their "watched items" list disappear?  When I add items to my "watched" list, they go away after awhile, even though the item I was watching is still for sale.  This is annoying, as I have now missed out on several items. I used to get a message from ebay, when it was close to the end of an auction. Maybe there has been more changes, I'm unaware of.  Thanks for any answers
