I had the experience of buying a couple of Fake Monster/Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones and I want to share my experience, because at the end you loose money in return shipping costs and duty taxes.
My experience happened with Beats Pro and Beats Wireless Studio.
First, you need to know that the version of Monster/Beats Studio (WIRELESS) was never released to stores like BestBuy. Because it was never made by Monster/Beats. Before Monster split from Beats, they just released the STUDIO (not wireless) and the Solo HD Wireless. Those are the only ones you can see in the old inventory of serious stores.
The New Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Wireless came after Monster was gone and it has a different case format and I'm pretty sure fakes are on the way.
After receiving them and comparing it with a real Beats Box, it was clear the boxing and packaging was not like an original Beats Box. Cheap wrapping, week cartoon box, poor quality in the printing. Once the box is open you start to have more clues how fake they are. Cables plugs and logos on them looks pretty cheap and not well done. Headphone Case and metallic details pretty cheap done. The worst comes when you test the audio quality, "absolutely horrendous" comparing to a real Beats/Monster Studio.
If you check some Chinese Based Websites who sale Fake Beats, you will see the price for a headphone is as low as $ 50.00.
If you don't have a real Beats Monster (headphones or box) to compare, you will find many clues in a fake box. The most give away is the printing of the Logos of Beats by Dr Dre - Studio - Monster. All this Logos should be printed with a glossy ink and with a noticeable embossing. beats by dr. dre Logo must always have a TM at the end. The Red Part of the Monster Logo (like two red leafs) has two little white lines in the middle of each leaf. Inside the Plastic Wrapping you can see two circle shape transparent security tapes on top of the top and bottom box edges, holding the box and the box mask. Even the two black rivets on the hanger are different. Real ones are shiny and perfectly rounded. Fakes looks smashed.
Inside you will see that every little transparent bag (cloth, cables) or manual compartment has the same circle shape tapes. Real Monster Headphones inside the box never come with a plastic bag. They come with small transparent tapes covering the headbands.
Why to pay over $ 150 for a fake Monster/Beats ??? Please take a look to the pictures I attached.
