Finally, some good news about International exposure!

Announced yesterday:

http://announcements.ebay.com/2010/03/sellers-%E2%80%94-reach-millions-more-buyers-in-europe-for-no-extra-cost/

here's the text:

Now you can reach more than 180 million Europeans who have access to eBay in their own languages for the first time. Through the new eBay International Market at eBay.eu, buyers in Russia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Norway, Denmark and Sweden can now purchase Fixed Price items from eBay sellers willing to ship to their country. This is a great way to expand globally—just specify you’re willing to ship internationally, and your listings automatically appear for buyers in these countries at no additional charge.

To take advantage of this opportunity, just:

* List in Fixed Price format and offer PayPal as a payment option.
* Select worldwide shipping and specify your shipping charges.
* Use buyer requirements to exclude any countries you don’t wish to ship to—your listings won’t appear to buyers in these countries.

Shipping internationally is easy. You can purchase and print international shipping labels, order free International Flat Rate boxes, get customs forms, and automatically track shipments right in My eBay.

Plus, since only transactions with U.S. buyers count towards your DSRs on eBay.com, you can sell globally without worrying about customs delays or international delivery times affecting your eligibility for Top-rated seller or PowerSeller status.

It’s the perfect time to expand your sales and markets by going global.

Happy selling!

"Now you can reach more than 180 million Europeans .... in these countries at no additional charge."

Yet, eBay continues to charge a fee for exposure to eBay.uk 😞

Typical: the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!

As a proud (?) citizen of EU I am really glad, that my items will be visible in ...... where.... ? EU itself has 500 millions .... 😉
Most important sites, like French, UK and German will be still separated from US Ebay. Fortunately, I sell & ship every week to UK and Germany. I recently listed some nice county maps of England - especially for my UK customers 😉

Reality check: ebay EU has no pagerank and Alexa rank is 76410 (0.007% reach).

For comparison:

eBay.ca has Alexa rank 897 (0.11% reach), ebay.com has Alexa rank 24 (2.69% reach).

Comparing the reach - eBay.ca gets 24x less traffic than eBay.com and eBay.eu gets 380x less traffic than eBay.com

gee, why did I bother posting this here?

I thought people might actually be interested. How wrong I was.

I'll go back from whence I came. People are a little more positive on that board.

I've often wondered recped why this board is so quiet and the US board is buzzing.

Sellers in both countries share much of the same frustrations but it doesn't seem like there's much discussion about it here. On the US board if you blink your eyes there are a 100 new posts!

Curious!

IMO this board has lower noise than US board. Every question gets answered, every major change gets discussed and we do not have to spend hours to plow through beer talk to get to that. Nothing wrong with that, there is audience for chatting, this is how I met my wife 😉

Well, the good news is that I have noticed an influx of questions and sales to Germany, Belgium, Australia, France, and yes, even Russia... :^O

Typically, I don't list with any other shipping except to Canada and the USA, but over the last few weeks, I have been updating my listings to include Europe, France, Germany, Australia, and the UK. I also indicate that I will ship worldwide, but the buyer should of course, contact me for shipping charges. I get questions about shipping fees to South Africa, and other places as well, but I am concerned about shipping to South Africa and other areas as well.

Does anyone have a complete list of where NOT to SHIP to? If so, could you either send it to me or post it here?

I think what I might start doing is listing shipping fees to anyone International and use the excludes feature to not ship to Countries that are suspect or have all kinds of import laws, etc...

Although business is up, I cannot attribute it to International sales, the bulk of my sales are to the USA, but Canada is now coming in a close second. Now if only the US Dollar could climb back up to $1.45, that would be a dream!! Oh, yeah, and if Canada Post could some up with shipping fees between the $1.22 bubble envelope and that darn Expedited Parcel... You know, I can ship the same item thousands of miles away to any destination in the USA, cheaper than I can from Ontario to BC!!

;-) B-) 😄 🙂

I have been shipping Internationally ever since 2002, I DO NOT have a DO NOT SHIP list. Some people do not ship to ITALY.....I sure do, some of my best customers come from ITALY. I ship to Russia, Korea, Martinez, etc...Sure some places take a little longer to get there than others but I keep my customers informed and everything works out. Just go for it, and reap the benefits

I ship everywhere, have had very few issues with buyers no matter where from but the majority of those I had issues with were buyers with limited English skills. To me, that's one of the downfalls of selling internationally and even if you only ship to English speaking countries (UK, AU) you might still run into probs. I ran into one with an Italian nun living in the UK with limited English.

Still, in general, I love International buyers!

For the almost 10 years that I've been on eBay, I've always shipped worldwide. When a buyer has limited English skills....I translate my e-mails to them into their native language.

I'm always amazed at how hard my non-English speaking buyers try to converse in English and always applaud their efforts!

I preface my e-mail with the fact that I'm using an on-line translator just in case my translations are not exactly accurate. However....it's worked and all goes on.

Sales are highest to the States, International a close 2nd and then Canada for me.

I do not exclude any countries! Mind you....I sell non-controversial scrapping items! *S*

Have a good one!

I'm also selling some items internationally and had very few problems.
I shipped to Russia, Italy, Greece, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, Thailand and Japan with no problems!
The only problems I had was an electronic item to South America (Chile) and 2 items with surface mail to Australia. So now I'm only shipping by Air.

Twelve years selling on eBay and always offered worldwide shipping with no restriction.

No restrictions there, neither.
But it depends on items - if it's an expensive one, the full insurance is mandatory.

Another screw job for auction sellers, this Euro site is only for FP listings.

Fortunately buyers in those countries have never had a problem finding my stuff.
