First negative since 2002 - any help?

I got my first negative.
Can I do something with that..?
I sold a map of Sicily - buyer wanted a map of Malta.
Somebody thinks it's map of Malta here...?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400107171716

Of course, I did apologize. I offered full refund, a replacement, everything he wanted.
No answer - instead of that a negative.

...... I stopped to list since 6 months because of DSR ......but I never expected nothing like that .... ;-(

Your buyer has been busy leaving negs this year;

http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=kayak2001corvette&Dirn=Left+by&ref=home

But I don't see anything that's going to get it removed, sorry.

On the plus side, the neg will be off your front page in about 12 days.

Did he blast your DSR's as well?

Thanks!

I am still not sure, if he also left all bad DSR, but it's almost 100% sure. I called him - his wife told me, that he refuses to talk with me.
He also doesn't answer my emails.

The whole story was probably caused by an additional bonus map I put into the tube. He didn't notice, that there is another map inside.

A disgusting story ...... eh ... ;-(

Yes, I just got new results. Everything is in red now.
Probably Ebay will force me to downgrade the store from Premium to Basic. With +1000 items listed an estimate 200 dol. loss.

I worked hard for 8 years, I never got a negative - and one such m**** can destroy everything ...... of course, it's even forbidden to ask help from Ebay, no..?

And I still do not understand, what happened? He didn't like the map or what..? I think that probably he didn't noticed that I send TWO maps - the second one as a free gift, a bonus. Tried to explain, but he do not answer my emails, and his wife told me, that he do not want to talk with me.

Thank you EBAY to make it possible!!!!

It's quite possible that this had little to do with you.

Looking at his feedback, I think this is a buying account and I would guess that he got some negs late in 2009 and decided to spread the pain around - I've seen some sellers do that.

BTW, the "negative" positive you left for him may be a violation and may get pulled.

In my items's description, I stated 4 times that the map is printed in 1908.

And he just wanted a new one...... sounds like a stupid joke ... ;-(

And thank you for your help .... I really needed to talk to someone ..... 😉 Thanks! 😉

Well here's another case of a buyer that does not take the time to read the item description and a seller that is stuck picking up the pieces because of it.

Ok here's what you have to do (and beforehand ask yourself if it's worth the trouble).

Email the guy back. Do not condescend him in any way. Tell him that you are sorry that he did not get what he thought he was getting but that you did describe the map correctly (use quotes in your auction or whatever). Tell him you understand it was a misunderstanding and would like to resolve to his satisfaction. Tell him that you work very hard to satisfy your customers and that feedback is very important to you. If you know where he can find a new map, help him out and send him a link. Offer to refund him and tell him that once you do, you will be sending a feedback removal request. Send off the feedback removal request and cross your fingers that he'll do the right thing. Then put him on your BBL and move on.

Good luck!

Another possibility that occurred to me today - contact your Powerseller rep.

Sometimes, they'll cut us some slack. The buyer has left a huge whack of negatives in the past 4 months - it could be argued that this feedback is unrealistic.

I think it's a long-shot, but if you don't ask, you don't get.

Thank you all! I really appreciate your support! 😉

Surprisingly, all the 1 star DSR he left will not affect my TRS status.
Also the 4.6 for the shipping charge will go back to normal, so I will not lose the right to have a Premium store (with 0.05 listing fee instead of 0.20). I try to be "professional" and simply forget about the story - and move forward.

Many wondered, how I survived 8 years without having even one negative 😉 So, it's over now 😉

If the gentleman has been leaving a lot of negatives for many different sellers contact your powerseller rep. I had a customer from Greece who left what I felt was an unwarranted negative and it turns out that he was buying cheap items from many sellers to just leave negs. His account was closed and the neg removed - but ebay will never know about people like that unless sellers complain to Ebay. When I complained I was told nothing could be done but apparently if there are enough complaints sometimes a real person with a real brain at Ebay will look at things and remover the negs

Thank you!

You write about "PowerSeller Rep" ....... I am not able to find any info on Ebay. Just a simple "call us". Is there any special 'PowerSeller Rep"..? 😉

The buyer sent many contradictory emails. Some do not have any sense and contain a lie in almost every word. But to whom can I explain that?

I contacted somebody there and they promised to do an investigation. But all answer I got were rather "from a book" (or maybe I expect too much..? I don't know..). They will investigate, if his contact info is real. His "official" last name means "somebody who smokes cannabis often". Is it a real name? If not, I am saved. (I can't write his name here, because it's probably against our board rules).

I try to be "professional", but I can't - I didn't sleep since 26 hours.....

I think ebay has done away with individual reps - I think I saw an announcement or complaint on that - and there's just the one number to call.

False contact information is another way to get rid of the guy - ebay will boot them for that. I didn't think of that.

And, realistically, one neg in 3500+ means nothing - it's incredible that you haven't been nailed before, based only on the laws of chance. I wouldn't worry about it, no matter what the outcome.

I wouldn't try and explain it - just get the person's email address and copy and paste the emails in order with your responses - the situation sounds like it will explain itself.

That's what I repeat to myself since 26 hours 😉

I had some weird buyers before - but I was always able to resolve the situations - once, I even paid a ransom (I was blackmailed by a French customer).

So next time you'll know to take the neg.

The first one is the hardest but really, in your case, it means nothing.

Well I'm glad for you that you won't lose your premium store. It's pretty scary to think that only 1 or 2 buyers can put you out of business. It is amazing that you've avoided unfavorable feedback for so long. I am a darn good seller and have not been able to avoid them in 5 years but I did get my only 2 negs retracted by refunding the buyers. One buyer, like you, didn't read the item description. The other claimed one item of many was not in her box (it was) and didn't bother to email me about the situation before negging me. Some things are just beyond your control.

Anyhow, now you are painting a very different story of your buyer. It would certainly be convenient if there was an issue with his name....perhaps he created a new identity because there were problems with the real one?

Anyhow...je te souhaite la bonne chance!

Merci pour ton soutien 😉

Definitely, with the new system is quite easy to put a seller out of business. But Ebay policy is clear - are you a troublemaker (guilty or not) - you should be eliminated. Ebay is a company making money, not a (once it was) a "community", or something else. Honesty, good business practices count ONLY, if they bring money. If not - nobody cares. I overreacted - I have to admit. If so, I should be eliminated. For SOME reason my listing attracted a psycho - I generated TROUBLES. I UNDERSTAND the rule.

And now the best - after I got the negative, the sales go UP.

Don't bother, eBay haven't done anything regarding outdated contact info for at least the past 3 years.
