I'm unfortunately dealing with a seasoned scammer potentially and am starting to shake my head what protection I have as a Canadian seller shipping to the USA using tracking even? This Buyer claims 7 days after receiving item arrived that its broken but hasn't sent me photos yet. Buyer got combined discount shipping two items together and completely got a deal on items won. Buyer purchased no Insurance or Tracking and my auctions clearly state no returns. Buyer admits her delivery carriers are always rough with her parcels and she has many damage claims but she admits she has not reported them. Buyer now expects full item refund. shipping refund and to keep "broken" item or i pay for return shipping to me.
I have offered refund for item and I provided tracking free.Item is family heirloom and not replaceable. Can Ebay seriously award her a refund for item shipping and me pay return? If so I seriously don't see how a Seller is protected from scammers or buyers misusing canada to usa "insurance" policies knowing Canada seller has disadvantage. She resells this same china and currently even is reselling same bowl she claims is broken on a different site right now. I am both a Buyer and a Seller and very fair but this seems ridiculously one-sidedly unfair no?! In over 10 years being a Seller here this is first time I have dealt with a Buyer like this, have I been lucky?! lol

"bb_specialties" I feel for you and didn't realise how one-sided it is now for protection for the buyer when selling and leaving feedback. Just when I thought this Buyer was done trying to take advantage, I wake up yesterday to a Negative and a Neutral from her and realised to my shock I could only leave her a Positive or report her once again? (last time I sold alot was when policies were equal on feedback options)
I still believe most buyers are honest and not on here to rip off and burn good sellers but Yes a few bad apples are discouraging and draining. I did call ebay and after 2 hours... on hold, 3 different reps transferred...Rep was very nice and removed Neg and Neutral and blocked her from bidding on my auctions. The persistence for fairness and fight a seller has in this situation is too much now though. She is a seasoned policy misuser for sure and I am not, so she had an advantage from beginning.
Some suggestions I do feel helped in my case,
Report Buyer anonymously as soon as you are having problems that are under the categories listed.
Explain Clearly what your issues are,
Do not wait for a potential claim to be filed by buyer if you are already having many issues or they are being very rude.
Keep ALL Your email correspondence and stay friendly, professional but not a doormat in fear of receiving a negative if you dont give that buyer the moon trying to please them,
Especially when its unreasonable demands they are making.
This whole experience has been a learning experience for sure!
Cheers 🐵

Good to hear that justice was served in your case Surrealgirl.
Wonder if this has ever happened to anyone? About ten years ago I purchased some aftermarket car parts from a person on a car forum I was a member of. As he was a regular long-time poster of good repute, I didn't anticipate any problems. (famous last words! lol)
As this was long before I had a PP account, I sent him a money order. A couple of weeks went by, and I waited...and waited...and waited. Tried contacting him, but no response to e-mail, and his phone number was no longer in service, and of course, he stopped posting on the forum.
Wasn't impressed to say the least, as I had sent about $350 including shipping. About a month after I sent the money, I received an invoice from Canada Customs, for $70!
Apparently, my parts had been scanned in at Winnipeg, but God knows where they ended up from there, as I never did receive the package.
Naturally, I refused to pay duty on something I had never received. I called them and explained this, only to receive a 'reminder' letter a couple weeks later. It took me over a month to straighten this out, as each time I would explain the story over the phone, I would subsequently receive another letter (which included a threat to turn my bill over to a collection agent).
I would always tell the new person that I had talked to so-and-so on this date, (here's the case #) and they always assured me the invoice would be cancelled. Even talked to managers and supervisors.
Finally hit on the right person, and the threatening letters stopped. They did send one final letter of closure, informing me that my balance owing was zero. I kept that letter for a long time!

I know what you mean,..if there was an something besides Ebay,.. I would also leave in a heart beat.
If it was not for us selling, there would be no Ebay,... and we are the ones that pay for everything. And what do we get,....... a FAT NOTHING.

Wow what a kick in the teeth learning experience this has been all around...I now find out the fine print on back of Expedited USA with Ins and tracking does NOT cover damaged items received Ever??? Meaning, (China, Porcelain or Glass) Soooo unless you are sending someone a TV maybe? you are only covered for Loss. I asked this at the post office too when mailing China, Clerk said it was covered if damaged in transit. So also why I'm not happy with mixed answers from Canadapost. Does anyone else get 3 different answers when asking important questions with Canadapost in person and on phone?
It feels there is NO deterrent for handlers to drop or kick any parcel if they choose, knowing in Canada and to USA we get no compensation. I may be sticking to Selling mostly Clothes Now! I have alot of China to sell now though that I'm sitting on afraid to list. grrrrrr 🐵 Happy Friday!
