GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

Well after many years of selling on EBay I have decided to STOP sell here!!! This place use to be good and the majority of the people buying from me where honest and truthful. BUT NOW I have been ripped off by a guy in Australia and ripped off by PAYPAL!for $500.00 u.s.! the guy who ripped me off did a credit card charge back to his credit card company and Payal sided with them!!! I gave them tracking info, numbers, and the actual postal tracking sheet which showed he had received the item!!!
NOW THERE'S PAYPAL BACKING ME UP??? NOT!!!!!
Not only is the buyer a thief but Paypal is as well!!! go figure??
I'll be waiting for your demise and jump for joy when it happens, signing out GOOD BYE and GOOD RIDDENS!

I take it you didn't ship with Signature Confirmation for the High Value Item.

Sounds like the buyer knew how to work the system to their advantage.

Sorry to hear about your loss, that is a big one.

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

Now that PayPal and eBay have been pretty much successful in rerouting credit card chargebacks for not-received items through their in-house resolution processes, I'm wondering if this credit card chargeback is actually for an unauthorised payment rather than for an item not received.

In other words, the person who filed the chargeback may not necessarily be the person who's on file for purchasing the item.

Victim, what was the reason for the chargeback?  Check your correspondence from PayPal.

That wouldn't matter. Normally an unauthorized transaction is covered by Paypal as long as there is proof of shipping or delivery confirmation, But for a higher priced item the seller would need to show a signature as well. If the claim was for a SNAD, then paypal wouldn't have covered a cc chargeback.

" after many years of selling on EBay..."

I am sorry for your loss.  $500 is a lot of money.  I have lost a few over the years and they hurt.

Since you want to leave eBay, was this an eBay transaction?  Your recent sales seem to be for very small amounts, nothing like $500.

I understand that.  Sorry the meaning behind my post wasn't clear.  The seller seems to be accusing his "buyer" of filing the chargeback, and I'm wondering if that's really the case.  The "buyer" may be the "thief" but it may not be the person trying to recover their funds.

As Pierre points out, there's nothing like a $500 sale in the seller's recent history.  Since unauthorised use chargebacks sometimes don't get filed until sometime after the item was purchased, I'm wondering if this is the case here.

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

I know you're P_____ed off at the moment, but was the loss really $500?

That is......... are you able to recover the $100 plus shipping via insurance?

Moreover, your cost for the item wouldn't have been $500..................... right?

Sometimes putting things into perspective helps.

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

................. And part of the problem is shipping to Australia.

For me it's always a difficult decision on how to ship there because shipping to Australia is so expensive.

The cost of shipping with signature confirmation almost always makes it impossible to ship that way.............

Australia is always a gamble but some of my best customers are from OZ.

Isn't it possible that if you take a few days and put it into perspective that it won't look so bad????

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

Today I was taking pictures of a wonderful antique piece thinking I'd list if for a quick sale at $350............. and OMG it broke.

That's a loss too.

S____ happens.

I'm sure others have that kind of thing too.....................

Losses occur because of all kinds of things.......... and some throw in the towel and others keep on truckin'.

I don't think he had a choice in the matter - the ID comes up as invalid.

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

The ID is valid.  The technical problem in this instance is clearly with eBay new boards not able to correctly handle a user name in brackets.

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

Just want to say:  There has been some discussion recently re: Third Party Insurance.

I don't know if TPI would have paid out or not, but if this is just the kind of transaction I buy TPI for.

Shipping to Australia is difficult because the cost is so high, and a compromise is to use Tracked Package with TPI.

IMO there is a good chance that they would have paid up because the uses for TPI are limited now with recent changes to CPO choices for shipping, and this is just the kind of scenario it makes sense to buy TPI for.

In other words............ if they give their customers a hard time for this type of payout then their role in shipping is very limited now.

"he tried it twice second time was for 800,00 but i recouped that one aut not the first one."

Now, I am curious.

The first $500 was an eBay transaction from three months ago.  Did you still have that money - three months later - in your PayPal account? Based on a quick look at your feedback, you seem to have eBay transactions with small amounts in the last three months.  Where did PayPal take the $500 from?

What about that $800 claim?  Was it also an eBay transaction?  Another one removed by eBay from your records? Was the money in your PayPal account when the claim was made?

Re: GOOD BYE I'm signing out for good

I am also leaving......This is no place for anyone to sell valuable things. There are too many, "how to's", written on the internet and too many desperate scumbags more than willing to try. It is a shame that a GOOD HONEST CANADIAN SELLER who cares about his reputation can get it smeared by a few unscrupulous creeps that grab the highest dollar items and lie about their condition. On top of the **bleep**ty circumstances that the seller must grit their teeth and adhere to, Pay Pal and eBay only profit from this type of SELLER RUINING FRAUD and eBay will just cut you off when $1200.00 of your earnings are being held by Pay Pal and you are a fraction of that behind on your seller fees. Looks like the writing is in the sand, eBay is for small items only. Good Luck Everyone.!
