Canadian banks have varied policies on these, personally I have no problems at Scotiabank but I know for a fact it's at least partially because I've had a business account with them for about 20 years. The tellers occasionally tell me "we are not supposed to accept these" but they do anyway.
The only problem is that they are very slow to clear as my understanding is that they have to be sent to the USA for processing (I don't know if this is really correct). There is a faint possibility that they could be rejected at the US end, apparently this sometimes happens if the value of the M.O. is large, in my case they are usually quite low value.
One thing to remember, in many situations the branch manager can and will override policy if asked.
