I RECEIVED A MYSTERY NEUTRAL TODAY AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY

Earlier this week I sent out mutual withdrawl requests to two customers, one who was happy, but accidentally put a neutral and one who's in denial about the size they fit into to. The one in denial accepted while the other has never responded. In anycase, I was down to one neutral in my total for the last 30 days...then today all of a sudden I look at my totals and I have another neutral for a total of two for the last 30 days. So I scroll down to see who it's from and there is no neutral to be seen anywhere. So I have a new neutral in my totals, but no neutral showing in comments at all.

So where exactly did this phantom neutral come from? Anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that feedback can be left by a buyer for any transaction upto 90days old so I would scroll back at least 90days - if you find nothing then contact ebay and inquire -- could be a system glitch.

After scrolling through your feedback all I found is two neutrals:

ITEM# 120154775482 on page #5
ITEM# 120135110093 on page #22

Does not explain why your feeback is showing 2 neutrals in the last month.

Most likely a system glitch but I would have them correct it nevertheless.

Cheers,

Well apparently according to live help the neutral that was mutually withdrawn and removed from my total (and the customers) 2 days ago has for some reason returned to my total (and the customers). I've put in a request with the feedback people to have that changed...oy vay, like we have time for annoying stuff like this...in 24-48 hours I should have my cut and pasted response.

Yup, I still haven't got a response from support, but I'm back to one, so that's what's most important.

I've only used the live chat a few times, and noticed that they often dont follow up on the chat..guess it still hasn't improved...I try to go through the stores support wherever possible because these guys seem to be a little more on top of things (even for feedback related stuff)

Glad to hear they fixed that for you though, I'll start keeping an eye out for that kind of stuff

Just out of curiosity as I've never tried and sometimes people have left neutrals by accident, is there a way to do this request for a neutral without square trade?

I think I understand your question, I apologize if I didn't, but you can do a mutual feedback withdrawl request with your customer for the neutral...personally I would suggest giving them a neutral back first so as to give them some incentive for accepting. To do this click on feedback on the left hand side of your myebay page, then click on feeback forum, then click on feedback help and from there click on "mutual feedback withdrawl".

Do a lot of you do feedback withdrawals on neutrals? I always thought it was better to leave the neutral (which drops off the summary after a year) instead of showing a permanent record for mutual feedback withdrawal. I always figured the buyers would assume the withdrawals were negatives anyway. JMHO

Neutrals now figure into your stats for seller non-performance...lets say you get one or two crazy customers who decide to go after you and hit you with a pile of negatives, you'll be happy you got rid of those neutrals. We now try to get rid of everything as soon as possible these days.

I'd rather a future customer see a lot of mutual withdrawls, which means the disputed feedback was resolved in some way and in turn shows that you as a seller try and work out problems that arise, then have them see a bunch of neutrals that make them wonder about you.

Oh by the way, I received a response from support. As usual they completely misunderstood what I was requesting even though I wrote it so a 3rd grader would understand and they then quoted a negative I received a year ago for some reason, that of course had nothing to do with the issue at hand. I wish there was a feedback system for ebay's support system...they'd have been suspended for non-performance a long time ago.

No matter how big the pile, one or two crazies can only effectively leave 1 or 2 negs. Even for the Seller non-performance thingy only unique feedbacks are counted, multiples from the same buyer only count as 1. In addition, Negs and Neutrals as they relate to the non-performing seller policy "go away" by themselves after 90 days.

Go after you in a sense of opening several bogus accounts just to neg you...wouldn't be the first time that's happened. Bottom line, it's a good idea to fix your neutrals as well as negs at the time they happen rather then try and fix them down the line if a seller non-performance issue arises. Personally I don't expect it to be an issue with us, but you never know. Better to be safe than sorry. The past 6 months has taught me that with ebay you need to stay one step ahead.

Thanks for the tip Cello. If I was able to scrap the bulk of neutrals with comments like "." or "Great Deal! Totally Satisfied" that would probably increase my feedback by a few points

Regarding the malicous eBay accounts. I've found that people that do this usually attack more than 1 eBay user at a time as it would be a big waste of time to do this against just 1 user and I've noticed this and contacted the members to all complain to eBay. Also, they often supply invalid info such as an incorrect phone # and you can go after them with that too. Once that was done, accounts were deleted and feedback withdrawn
