I'm waiting for a book to show up that was ordered from St Elsewhere.

Specifically The River.

So today I made an enquiry, and found this useful information. I wish eBay had such a clear explanation of why tracking is not what most people think it is.

About Missing Tracking Information

Sometimes tracking information won't be available. This may be due to the timing of tracking-database updates by the carrier, the sophistication of a particular carrier's tracking system, or the lack of full integration into Amazon.ca's tracking systems.

If the estimated delivery date for your package has passed and your tracking information hasn't changed, please allow an additional day or two for the package to be delivered. Usually packages arrive on or shortly after the estimated delivery date.

Here are some reasons why tracking information may not be available:

  • The first package scan may be upon arrival at a regional hub near the destination. This is common when shipping volume is high and packages are processed in bulk. Until this first scan, the carrier may not acknowledge receipt of the package.
  • The first package scan may not be until delivery.
  • Some shipments, such as Standard International shipments, are not trackable.
  • Marketplace sellers sometimes do not provide Amazon with tracking information for their orders.

I tried adding that sort of information on my person Question and Answer but it often doesn't display and I don't think buyers read it anyway. Maybe one in ten do. It would be great if that information above was stated on ebay as a preface to the Resolution Centre-trigger that is pulled from the drop-down menu.

The last book I ordered from The River was to replace one that my kid dropped in the toilet. One that was already full with other things.

The bookseller claimed to ship from Canada but was a dropshipper from overseas.

My book arrived encrusted with food and sticky stuff from its previous owner.

It was so gross I wish I'd kept the one that fell in the toilet.

I found it useful as a corporate explanation in Plain Speech of various reasons a purchase might be delayed.

I don't think it would be as useful to a seller, since a suspicion of bias might creep in.

I wrote my AZ seller and asked about the late delivery. He asked me to wait another 10 days. I suspect the book is being handwritten on parchment and they ran out of calves.

I've opened a Claim and will be interested to see how it is handled by AZ.

I've had one Claim (against a Chinese seller, how unusual) on eBay and it went very smoothly and quickly.

Snort. Any time that I've had any issues with an order with Azon, it's been dealt with lightning-fast and with the greatest of ease. To compare and contrast it here to any one of the issues I've had in the past ten years...... well.....

Still no sign of a refund and the seller washes his hands.

That's outrageous! The rare times that I've had trouble with an Amazon purchase, it was settled so fast my head spun.
