I started a refund claim and the seller has asked me to close it to process refund is this normal.

I ordered a phone case for my phone. it was advertised as a case for that phone. when the item arrived the case does not fit the phone so I started a refund request. the seller replied quickly asking me to cancel my request so that he could process my refund. If I cancal the refund request then there is nothing that ebay can do to help. what do I do

NO!

Do not close the dispute until you have the money in your Paypal account or in your credit card account. He won't pay you and you cannot open another dispute.

Go to the Dispute and escalate to a Claim.

If he does not refund immediately, and it takes seconds, and no, an open Dispute does not affect this, Paypal will refund you and go after him for their money.

There will be other fallout for him.
