I want to get rid of "Other Items that may Interest You" in My eBay

I find it distracting and in the way. There's an option in Preferences that allows you to check a box called "Show Other Items that may Interest You". I un-check it and save the settings. After a few minutes, the "Other Items" are back, and the box is re-checked. The other settings in Preferences all save correctly and stay the way I set them, but not that one. Does this happen for everyone, and are we just doomed to see the irrelevant items for eternity? It's not a big deal, but as far as I can tell it's a bug that could be fixed.

My guess is that if you turn it off, it is either still in your cache memory or it takes some time to update.

Not sure what you mean by "in the cache memory", but I know I empty my cache every now and then, and it doesn't affect this. This has been going on for several months, without fail. As for taking time to update, that's definitely not it. Thanks for the thoughts!
