I wish eBay would quit telling me my item is delivered when, in fact, it's in Erlanger

I am sick and tired of the global shipping program.  I checked on an item I am waiting for on the web site, and it tells me that it is delivered.  I clicked on the tracking number provided and it says "We're unable to show the shipping status at this time.  Please try again later."  I've been checking that number for 4 days and keep getting the same thing.

I opened a contact where they show me the shipping information.  Gee whiz, it is delivered, to Erlanger KY.  I hunted all around my house expecting to find the item, but to no avail.

The worst part is, the item was shipped from DeKalb, Illinois.  I'm in Hamilton, Ontario.  Would it  not have been easier to ship it directly to me?  I most likely would have had it by now.  Now I have to wait another 2 to 3 days before I get it.  It's only a book for goodness sakes, does it really need to be sent to Erlanger???

Anyone else annoyed about this?

The Global Shipping Program sucks!!!!!

First you have to understand that the Global Shipping Program is NOT for your benefit.

It is a Seller Protection program.

When your purchase is delivered to Erlanger (the GSP plant) the seller is no longer responsible for delivery.

And that message is telling the seller that her responsibility for delivery is ended. If the buyer were to open an Item Not Delivered dispute against the seller*, she shows that notice and wins the case.

Keeping in mind that tracking and Confirmation of Delivery are for the benefit of the seller.

And remembering that if you are not at home when your purchase is delivered, the carrier will leave a notice about where and when you can pick it up.

Another poster worked this out for buyers who have not yet received their GSP shipment.
TRACKING SYSTEM FOR GSP
It's not user friendly... But I found how to track your package via the global shipping program, once it gets to Canada you need to:
- Log on to eBay.ca
- Under the My eBay menu select Purchase History
- Under your orders find the specific order.  It should have something like the following:
Estimated delivery Mon, Jan 11 - Thu, Jan 21
        Tracking number: Tracking number UPAAB000000#########
- Click on the UPA number.  This should open up a Shipment Details window, which should contain something like this:
This shipment has been transferred to CPC for delivery to the final destination # 70351#########
-Click on the Canada Post number to see where the Canada Post Tracking history and expected delivery

*Don't worry. The buyer can still open a Not Delivered case, but against the GSP. Not usually a real problem.
