I recently bought an item that turned out to be defective. I shipped it back insured. I have found out that the seller has not received the returned item yet after almost a month, so am considering going to the post office to talk about collecting the insured amount. If I do, who would get the money: Me, the seller, or both? Or is it our decision what to do with it?

Hi .. Nothing to do with seller. Presumably didn't get the item back so won't refund. I assume no delivery confirmation. Its your item , your claim on CP and your pay out, if any.

Making the insurance claim is your responsobility.
The seller has refunded you so the honorable thing to do would be reimburse them after the Post Office settles your claim.

Actually, the seller has refunded my original payment already, does that effect anything?
