Is there something wrong about listing items that are subject to prior sale?

Been there; done that.

The biggest problems are feedback and defects.

Because you will eventually sell something on eBay that you forgot to remove when it sold elsewhere.

It is vitally important that part of your routine in selling on multiple venues is removing the sold items from everywhere.

Sellers think that feedback is the important problem. But FB no longer counts against our seller accounts. It has moved to being "only" a public relations forum for new customers to consider.

The big problem is Defects for out of stock items.

Two of those can get you a vacation from selling here.

What we did when we had a store was assign an inventory number to every item that was available on multiple venues. Every employee was told to record those numbers in the daybook when they made the sale.

And one of the clerks took down all the Sold items as her first job every morning. Ghu help us if she ever got sick.

With the Defects -- it becomes a Bad Idea.

Listing items that are subject to prior sale?  As in you have things in your shop that are also listed on eBay?  You are supposed to have things available for purchase that you list on eBay, and if something sells in your shop and then right away after sells on eBay, when you cancel that you will get a defect.  AND an unhappy customer who won't buy from you again.

Basically you can't have a disclaimer that suggests "This item looks good but may or may not be available for you after you buy it."  Nope, not allowed.  It is also true that sellers DO have real B&M stores and DO sell things there first sometimes but they are not supposed to do that.

I have been doing that for 10 years! Sure its okay, just be sure you take down the listings quickly on Ebay if they sell somewhere else.
