Hi, I bought a used laptop through ebay's Global Shipping Program from a seller in the US.
When I received it, it was both physically damaged and not working at all (most likely damaged in transit due to insufficient packaging).
I started a Return process and the seller agreed to the return but now I'm wondering who pays for return shipping (about $70 with Canada Post Expedited Parcel to the US)?
The first step in the return process is "1. Contact seller to get a return label. The seller will pay for shipping."
How would this work? I doubt the seller who is in the US will buy a shipping label from Canada Post and send/email it back to me??? Or do I need to ask him to send me the money for return shipping via Paypal?
If anyone has dealt with this kind of thing before, I'd really appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance.

For an item that's likely been damaged in transit through the Global Shipping Program, you should be filing a "not as described" claim through eBay (or PayPal). The seller should see minimal to no involvement as it's likely that poor re-packing on the part of the Global Shipping Center's part prior to forwarding the item to you led to the item's damage.
I would get on the phone to eBay and ask to speak to a Global Shipping Program specialist on advice on how to proceed seeing as you have started the return process. Normally, damaged items shipped through the GSP shouldn't need to be returned to the seller.

Best not to involve the seller., A damage in transit claim should get you a full refund with no need to return.
International seller paid returns are something ebay thought up without a clue as to how it could possibly work and it turns out that it cannot work. Not by coercion, anyway. Any return postage paid would have to be paid through paypal and ebay cannot force a seller to do that.
Also, the seller cannot refund GSP charges. Start an item not as described claim, cite damaged in transit, and get a full refund. The seller keep the sale price but their funds may be on hold for a week.
