I noticed the same. Many bidders from Italy, Estonia, Turkey, Russia, etc. 20% are deadbidders .;-(

No, the usual amount of international .. lots more Canadians, though, obviously as a result of our strong dollar.

LOTS OF INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS?????

There has been a continual increase in the number of non-North American bidders for the past several years. Three primary reasons.

- More local eBay sites

- More online shoppers in those countries

- The dramatic decline in the US Dollar makes stuff priced in US Dollars DIRT CHEAP (this is the primary reason)

For Europeans the price of American goods has fallen by 35% in the past 2 years on the currency alone and even more considering that inflation in Europe is much higher than it has been in the USA/Canada.

I was getting a lot a couple of months ago. (U.K. Australia, Israel.) Most ended up not paying, but a few paid for delivery by Purolator. Seems to have died down this past month. Lately, U.S. buyer percentage has been increasing and Canadian decreasing. (Would have expected the opposite to be happening.) Go figure.

is there a pattern with international bidders not paying??

YES, I have the most International NPB's from the USA, probably because as a single country I have more buyers from the USA.

The only "pattern" that I have ever detected is that is has been (for me) very rare to have one from Japan.

I am starting to get more International orders as well. I have not YET experienced an International Non Paying customer. I don't find with the items that I sell that it really is any more expensive to ship overseas. So far I am quite happy with International orders.

I am getting more outside North America buyers, probably as a result of currency fluctuations. When the Australian and New Zealand dollars dove lower than the Canadian $ A few years back buyers from those countries disappeared. Their $ are stronger now so they are back. In the stamp trade shifts like this have been going on for years( or as long as I have been in the stamp business - since 1964). Some old timers in the stamp trade might remember some of the familiar faces that would appear at stamp shows in the 60's and 70's paying fairly good prices for material that they then sold in Europe.

I just sent some packages to France and Australia last week and tonight I had a winning bidder from Singapore. so that is a slight increase for me too. A first for Singapore and France.
