Lettermail Changes will NOT be implemented!!!!

According to Goldhawk who spoke to Canada Post this week, he was told that they will not be implementing the changes to Lettermail. They are planning on letting sleeping dogs lie!! Formal announcement to come shortly!

Congrats to all those who mailed, emailed, called about this.

I am referring to the changes in the content that was to be allowed in lettermail. According to what was said those changes will not be implemented.

That means that you will be able to ship CD's once again by lettermail.

Announcement from Canada Post should be coming this week.

Received an email from Dale Goldhawk that Canada Post will make an announcement today rescinding their regulation change. Now we just have to wait for the word (confusing and contradictory as usual) to filter down to all the postal outlets. I foretell some "active" discussions across the counter all this week! I don't like to charge too much for shipping. Besides with my higher rates, I am not getting as many bids as I used to.

just heard Goldhawk on CFRB radio in Toronto today (Wednesday September 14th at 12: 45PM) - there will be NO change from lettermail to small packet rates.
So.... can I get a refund for all those letter rate packages they forced me to send as small packets? he he he

As of 4:15 this afternoon, my local post office had no clue about any rescinding of the "new regulations" and were continuing to charge small packet rates for non-paper letterpost/lettermail. I've FAXed them the notice from "Kim", but I'm sure they'll wait for some more formal notice. If enough folks got overcharged through this mess, there may be some talk of a class-action!......... I love it....we are supposed to do their job by notifying CP outlets so they don't charge us for something that isn't supposed to go into effect until next week anyway.

This is really good news! But why were you getting charged small packet rates when the change wasn't supposed to originally happen until Monday. Just shows that the clerks don't know what they're doing. I had one the other day try and charge me expedited parcel for a Canadian lettermail package D'Ohhh!
