Seriously my wife is really making me put an offer on a church that she wants me to gut and reno to turn into a house ... It is in the town I grew up in Larder Lake which is a very nice community surrounded by lake ...
I feel wierd buying a church to turn into a house but your talking $55k for roughly 2800 sq ft and the biggest room in 46 by 20 ft with 2 full bath and 2 half baths ...
So much potential but i don't think she realizes that it will take me about 5 years to turn it into a home.. I you care to look copy and paste the bottom link....
I feel very very weird as I am a non believer and never have been it's just seems strange but there is alot not on the listing like it comes with a backyard you actually end up owning part of a mountain which when i was a kid was called Church hill "Clever or what"
Called to put an offer for full asking price but there is a counter offer on the table which i hope gets countered so i can steel it away ... My house I bought paid 80k is now worth 150k so I could pa for church be morgage free and have roughly 30k for renos...
6 people looking at it today ... finger crossed or should i prey 😉

We looked a "move right in" place and both of us went "blah, no personality". Also, when every level is finished, to someone elses tastes, how does that work? Isn't that like going on vacation where someone else chooses for you? Someone else chooses your car, your dinner menu?
We are looking for a place where we both say "Are you sure? Is this a mistake?" and then we will know it is the right place for us.

"...and then we will know it is the right place for us."
Seventeen years, Mary and I spent twelve months looking at houses to find a "home". And when we finally found it, it had been sold already with a conditional offer. We offered a few thousand dollars more, no condition whatsoever. Two days later, the house was ours! 🙂
Hopefully it will not take you a year to find the "home" you and your wife want.

Yes, yes.
We found that when we moved to a new development in Ajax from Thornhill years ago.
Nice neighbourhood, nice people, but like you mentioned, no personality. Stayed there for a few years & then moved to Cabbagetown after that area was redeveloped.
We have always been a fan of old character homes & knew where we wanted to live when we moved back to Winnipeg.

Pierre, Mrs Igloo and I have budgeted two days to find something. I get into Pearson noon Wed, up to Belleville, we have to be in Oshawa Friday morning, I fly back Sat.
We "think" we are emotionally prepared to be a House Hunters episode and choose from three. Sure would love the Old East Hill area, but, I'm not parting with that kind of cash, not that I have it anyway. We saw one house on Ann St. All day long it is worth $25K in Winnipeg, went for $160K.
Saw a house on Elvins. All day long that is $300K in Bugtussle. It started at $229K and is down to $209K.

"Saw a house on Elvins."'
Very quiet and clean neighbourhood. 🙂

Was just looking at the listings in the Belleville area.
Were those condos downtown new buildings Pierre or retrofits ?
Would have liked to have been in on the bottom floor for those.
That 3.8 house for sale on the lake is very impressive. Must be a developer that owns it.

Pierre, we will meet up one day. You will then realize why "quiet and clean" is not me.
Kinda like saying Pierre keeps his opinions to himself.

Looks like a good move for you Inuk.
Have only been up there once years ago, but it is a very nice area.
The MLS listings are very reasonable, you should do well.

MLS does not show you inside the house. Trust me on this one, housing in Prince Edward County, area, bears little or no correlation with Winnipeg housing. The only commonality is that they are called "houses".
Area is amazing, folks are friendly, great amenities.
Agent I fired told me you really can't go by what the listing says "Manitoba is far more advanced than Ontario in MLS listings". What a strange thing to say.

You can really buy a house for $25k in Winnipeg?

You wouldn't to live in that area.
Apparently I exaggerated. I just took a look, several in the low $40's.
