National carbon tax now a reality

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared victory Friday in his campaign to craft a national "framework" agreement on climate change — even though Saskatchewan and Manitoba refused to sign on to the deal and British Columbia claimed a major carve-out.

Even as Trudeau was asserting the provinces and territories "are all in this together," it was painfully apparent that major divisions remain.

Carbon pricing, said Trudeau, "will apply across 100 per cent of this country'' starting at a minimum $10 per tonne of emissions in 2018 — a shot fired squarely across the bow of the most vocal holdout, Saskatchewan's Brad Wall.

It's just one part of a wide suite of climate policies designed to push Canada toward its international 2030 climate pledge to cut emissions 30 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030.

Can't be good for future investment here especially when Trump believes as I do global warming may be happening but the causes are not humans. Earth has been evolving since it was created. Trump may scuttle the Paris Accord and not burden the US with a national carbon tax. He also is expected to approve the Keystone XL pipeline to transport more bitumen to the refineries in the lower states.

On one hand Trudeau is gung ho on emissions and on the other he approves two pipelines from the oil sands. That's transporting future emissions to other countries.

Why did Justin Trudeau meet outgoing Vice-President Biden? It's a wonder he didn't invite Al Gore and David Suzuki as well.

Instead he should have rushed to meet the newly elected President Donald Trump to fix the softwood lumber dispute.

370,000 real jobs are at stake in all corners of Canada.

We see now that Trudeau’s charm offensive in Washington last March fell short for Canadians workers.

The Obama-Trudeau romance has provided zero results, but a bill of $250,000 for taxpayers.

Justin Trudeau should end his Obama’s nostalgia, put his political opinions aside and start working with President-elect Donald Trump to bring the Americans at the table .

It’s time to hold the Liberal government to account for not solving the softwood lumber trade dispute with the United States.

Canadians shouldn’t have to pay for this Liberal mismanagement.

Trump's EPA Pick Spooks Liberals and the Environmental Lobby
Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt is a sharp critic of Obama's executive overreach on energy.

Not likely to sit well with Justin either. Pruitt not just a global warming skeptic but "an outright climate denier."

Many Gorians and Suzukians are for Justin and Wynne's so called global warming initiatives and a few of them used to come on CTS to say so. Now when reality looms and the rubber hits the road along with one's wallet they are no where to be heard. As usual it's all about the money and higher and higher energy costs, electricity, gasoline, natural gas all of which will drive prices of everything else higher.
C'est la vie in Justin and Wynne's universe!

Justin travels the world throwing billions around like it is chump change. Meanwhile at home our natives suffer from lack of safe proper housing and clean water, brings in 33 million Syrian refugees this year, refuses to fund the 6 percent increase yearly in health care to the provinces established by the previous Harper government. Liberal election promises are falling like rocks from the sky as the deficit rises. Liberal tax and spend is well known however their priorities are not at home.
