Need advice on Newbie dilemma!

I have a Newbie buyer who bid on and won an item at the starting bid. Item # 110227118733 on Feb. 27. She contacted me Mar. 2 saying she was sending payment. Then I received an email from her on Mar. 12 saying that payments sent for mine and another order had not been received and she wanted me to send her an option to pay by PayPal.

I told her what to do but she turned around and bought an identical item using BIN. She paid by PP and it was shipped. I have never received payment for the first item so I contacted her yesterday asking when payment was sent. She replied saying I had received it because she couldn't get PayPal to work and bought the other item instead.

Now the question is: Do I just cancel the first listing and forfeit the listing fee or do I insist that she pay for it? The difference she paid for the BIN covers the listing fee from the first one so I am not really worried about the fee. But it does pose a dilemma because Newbie buyers can't just start buying in this fashion or be allowed to continue to do it in ignorance of how eBay works.

I could just cancel it and send her a polite "educational" email regarding buying on eBay.....and then bill eBay for doing their job....lol.

Any other suggestions?

Do a mutual on the first and give a polite explanation if you wish. There is no point in making an issue out of it and keep in mind for first timers eBay can be very confusing. On most ecommerce sites the situation would not be any problem for either the buyer or the merchant.

As RECPED put it, do a mutual one the first and move on.

Thanks guys. I didn't want to make an issue of it and the buyer had good intentions. I will take your advice.
