New Seller - use buying ID with Feedback OR new selling id?

Have bought a few things, as you can see by my limited feedback ...

Should I use this ID to Sell OR start fresh & register a NEW ID that has no feedback?

Should I buy a few things with New ID - just to get some feedback? Seems to me that Sellers don't often leave Feedback for Buyers as it can only be positive now.

Worth the effort to set up/manage a NEW ID?

Appreciate any insight from other Sellers. TIA

Use the ID with feedback. FB is one way bidders decide whether to trust sellers.

Some sellers use a different ID if they are buying on eBay for resale. I do this to a small extent, but most of my purchases are on my selling accounts, since they are for my own collections and nothing I am planning to resell.

Regardless, you will be subject to the 21 day hold on funds to start. You do know that, don't you? Don't start with the biggest, heaviest, most expensive, darndest to ship.

Start small, easy to work with, simple to package. You have a lot of mistakes to make.

Best thing to do is simply list and then ask for critique.

It is important for all new sellers to fully understand that you will not see the money paid by your buyers for 21 days - although you are expected to ship immediately.  The "hold" has nothing to do with your buyer.  It is a safety measure between you and PayPal.

Start understanding by reading: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/pay/payment_hold.html

... and then read it again.

Oh yes mr.elmwood & pierrelebel - I do understand about the 21 day holds on payments by PayPal for new sellers & the reasons for it. I plan to start with light weight, easy to ship items to Canada only (before I tackle selling internationally) ... have been reading the boards for a long time & have learned a lot that way - mostly about what not to do 😉 I plan to start small & only as a hobby, to test-the-waters & see how it suits me. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks femmefan - I was mostly curious as to how users feel about having separate IDs - I get that having feedback has some advantages. Just wondered as I have read some horror stories about some users who have had bad experiences buying & selling on same ID. Something to ponder.

Appreciate all the input 🙂

Shipping to the USA is the same as to Canada. It just prints a different shipping label is all.

"I plan to start with light weight, easy to ship items to Canada only"

I suggest you start with shipping to Canada and the USA.

Why?  This will allow your listings to be seen on eBay.ca (Canada) and the much more popular eBay.com (USA).

Many Canadian shoppers view listings on eBay.com, not eBay.ca.  If your listings show shipping within Canada only, they will not be seen on eBay.com.

Shipping to the USA is easy.

Great tip guys - thanks! I didn't realize it was as easy to ship to the US from Canada  - I spent some time on Canada Post website & it certainly seems so.
