Newbie didn't read description....

I have a 0 FB buyer who bid and won an auction. She paid right away with PP and a minute later emailed me that she had not read the description which states that the bracelet is NOT adjustable in size and will be too big for her. Then she says "Please help" which I assume means she wants out of the deal.

Had she contacted me before the auction ended I would have canceled her bid. Do I now have to get her to file an "Item not as described" to be able to give her a refund and get my FVF back at the same time or how do I proceed with this one?

Thanks!!

Let her out, file for a "mutual" (you get your FVF back), send her a loving email asking for + FB for being so nice, leave her + FB and get on with your day.

The customer might buy from you again...

And, of, course, issue her a PP refund.

People make mistakes, no big deal, be nice and it shall come back in a good way to you.

I'd just refund her unless it's a big transaction for you, it's not worth getting a neg / low DSRs from some moron who didn't read the description and signed the bid contract anyway.

Thanks for making the buyer experience more "safe" for us all, eBay!

The buyer does not have to be a "moron" just because she made a mistake.

Have we not all bought something at a B & M store and later realized the item was not a "fit"?

But perhaps we're all morons...:-D

Newbie, obviously honest (paid).

Even I forget to read descriptions at times and end up with wrong merchandise from eBay. But, heck, I'm also a moron]:)

I want to let her out of the transaction but "how" do you file for a mutual without her having to file an Item not as described dispute?

It isn't a big transaction and I may just do that but I would like to know how to handle this if it should happen with a larger order in the future.

Thanks to both of you for your input.

Judy,
Issue the PayPal refund, then report an unpaid item, but select "We have both agreed not to complete the transaction". The buyer will get an email from eBay and they must agree that they don't want to complete the transaction. Once they do that, you get your FVF credit and the buyer does not get an unpaid item strike. And hopefully, everyone's happy.......

I did as suggested and all has worked out fine. The buyer is now a happy future customer and I have recovered my fees.

Thanks again to all.

xenalook - I suppose it depends. In my selling area, used computer equipment, for every 100 items I sell, I have to file for about 7 FVF credits. A few people ask me nicely to back out, and I let them. However if people go "oh, I didn't realize this.. please help" and -hint- at what they want me to do without actually asking me directly, I can't help them. Perhaps I'm jaded after years of selling, but I have plenty of people who come up with all sorts of colorful excuses to back out when if they'd actually be up-front with me, I'd let them. A lot of scammers use such tactics as well.

Buyers want sellers to be up-front in their descriptions, selling terms and ship costs, and conversely I want buyers to be up-front with their concerns or to admit their mistakes instead of giving me a nudge nudge wink wink treatment.

These are nice. Morons are customers who say "I thought I was buying A but you are sending me B, please send A instead otherwise I will leave feedback accordingly!".

I would not let people make a habit of doing this. This was a brand new buyer who emailed me back saying she was reading the descriptions very carefully now. I think she learned from her mistake. If she had had 100 FB it would have been different.
