Oops they did it again... eBay.ca discussion on US Powersellers Board

I hust posted to that thread, once again expressing confusion as to why eBay.ca has been taking such an active role on the US Power Seller Board while totally ignoring the Canadian Power Seller Board.

This is especially true after the last fiasco where the Pinks could not afford anything more than a canned response that they were asked to by Cdn Power Sellers.

This time I stated that being a regular of both Power Seller Boards, I know of no one that made such a request and that such a forum with the Cdn Country Manager should have been available to the Cdn PS Board first.

I think if anyone else has any feelings whether it is appropriate to have our Cdn Pinks and Cdn Country Manager go to the US Power Seller Board to address us, they should make their comments known on the thread as well.

I brought this up about 3 months ago in a group discussion with this very same Gary Briggs, the .ca Country Manager. At that time he said that he had a small staff but would give all of them the ability to post in this group and "encourage" them to do so. It doesn't look like "encouraging" helped much.

Unless Gary specifically appoints someone to come here on a regular basis it just isn't going to happen. Many of us are regular readers of the U.S. Powersellers discussion board now and eBay.ca made getting to that group easier so that's probably eBay.ca's way of encouraging more Canadians to participate on the U.S. board as there's going to be no support for the Cdn. group.

The thought that occurs to me is that anybody he has working in his office may not be of much help to us anyways, unless you want a Pink patting you on the back for becoming a Powerseller.

Why dont we post that we are holding a discussion with US Power Sellers at the same time on the Cdn Power Seller Board and then NOBODY will be on the US Board during that hour.

We will pick some really interesting topic to get the majority of people into a healthy discussion and pull them all away from participating on the Cdn thread on their board.

A near riot has been averted. It was almost too much to fathom that the same move of having eBay.ca reps speak to Cdn Power Sellers on the .com Board would happen once again, only a month after the first debacle.

I have links to the .ca PS board, and the .com PS board in my favourites, and they are right next to each other, so I clicked on the wrong link yesterday, and posted away. Thanks for pointing it out everyone. Gary is looking forward to talking with you all on Friday!

In regards to the last discussion on the US PS board, the PS team at eBay.com asked us to hold a discussion on their board, as many Canadian Powersellers post on .com PS board, and they wanted to ensure that we connected with those PS who chose to post on the .com boards. Overall it was a great Q&A session. I hope we can have more discussions here on this board, and I think eBay pinks Elton, together with Darla and Werdna will be a great addition who will be spending more time on this board.

We look forward to that as it is very much needed especially for all the new Power Sellers.

They look forward to becoming Power Sellers and loose some of the excitement when they dont see the benefits, the most importnant being closer interaction with eBay.

(We dont want them to become as cynical as some of us old foggies on the board).

I cant believe it. I had planned to be here today to ask questions and provide some arguments if required but I have someone coming in from Toronto to look at my supplying his new music store with instruments.

As that could be over $25,000 per month in new non-eBay business, I cant delay that meeting and I hav a new sales rep in nova Scotia that needs a special catalogue of instruments, descriptions and pricing.

I will have eBay to thank for national and international exposure that has led to these opportunities and not have to be burdened by their fees and some pretty obscure, one-sided rules.

I look forward to reading the dialogue that takes place.

If you want to get some real info and dialogue, save your live dialogue pennies and just read my thread on the PS.com board about Canadian and International selling. It is nailed to the top and many, including our own Malcolm, have made incredible contributions.

International and Canadian selling issues cannot be pinpointed in a hour when hopefully the right folks will be on line. It has to be there as a resource to drawn on when the need arises. And it comes up everyday, over and over.

eBay Canada may not have a dedicated staff member available to sit on line to field these issues. They don't need one. Tap into the bank I have started. It will give the thread more guts and credibility.
