OTTAWA – Federal bureaucrats told the Harper government before it overhauled environmental protection laws last year that its reforms would be “very controversial,” reveal newly released internal
records.
The briefing notes, marked “secret” but released to Postmedia News through access-to-information legislation, suggested that the government could work together with the oil and gas industry to promote the reforms, which are now the target of the Idle No More protests that accuse the government of neglecting the rights of First Nations.
NDP deputy leader and environment critic Megan Leslie said she was angry after reviewing the briefing material. She said it suggests Rempel was giving a company privileged information about a review done by a parliamentary committee before its report was tabled in the House of Commons.
Leslie said it also shows that Idle No More protesters are correct about highlighting inadequate consultations with First Nations. “The final (parliamentary) report basically said exactly what the Conservatives wanted it to say in preparation for the total gutting of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.”
The records are the latest in a series of internal documents demonstrating the governments co-operation with industry in delivering the reforms that eliminated environmental reviews for nearly 3,000 projects last summer.
Liberal environment critic Kirsty Duncan also highlighted recent Idle No More protests, adding that she was troubled to learn Rempel was “trolling” for oil industry support before the government introduced its reforms, while environmental and First Nations groups were left in the dark.

Harper's wise counsel to "work with the oil companies" against the Canadian Parliament and people.
For what? So we can export more oil faster to China? Maybe let them bring their own workers in here to do the work for dollars a day, save them paying ridiculous salaries to our workers... Then ramp up their pollution till we literally see a black cloud rising from across the Pacific...

Interesting that the parts that are highlighted in the article as presented by OP are NOT highlighted in the article. Doing a little editorializing?

Those damn majorities screw up everything. He is with us until the next election in 2016. There will be nothing left of Canada by then.

Interesting that the parts that are highlighted in the article as presented by OP are NOT highlighted in the article. Doing a little editorializing?
Because:
First of all, everything else that was said was for the most part words from Harper's puppet minister and what comes out of his mouth.......is what Harper put in it.
Secondly....The briefing notes marked 'Secret' speak for themselves. Grasp the concept of 'secret' as in...."don't tell anyone else"! That from the pathetic Prime Minister who promised more transparency.
And lastly....I hate long article posts. As I was taught in the one year of journalism I took..."get to the point...scrap the crap."
Also I provided the link so if anybody was interested in reading the whole epitaph....it was there....right beside the words Full Article.
When another poster only posts bits and pieces of an article, or doesn't post a link....you will be right on them? Correct? Just thought I would ask since I haven't seen that happen.
Those majorities .............
Very true.....all dictatorships in all forms are like that.

secret is that like a name and address? I know 1 morris tract sorry but there is NO such location!! your mail does not go there!!
mailed you a little "percel" was returned as "
no such address" maybe you should inform the government that your alove and kicking and still living in a vacant park!
01-30-2013 08:04 PM
Now that is funny! You mailed a parcel on Jan 28 (because I posted the address on Jan 27th Sunday) and it went to Goderich and came back in two days! LOL
On top of that 'story' you would never put your return address on a parcel. So it never came back to you because it was never sent. Probably never packed. But that's ok, no problem, it's probably been a busy week for you.
Do you know how to use Google maps? Use it. There is the Morris Tract conservation area and there is also Morris Park Rd. Mail has only been coming here for 30 years and even when people put the wrong spelling on it, it still gets to the address because the mailman has been delivering for near 20 of those years, right to the little black mailbox.
Why don't I just pick up the parcel and save you a lot of time and trouble. I wouldn't want it to get lost. See how simple that is. That way I can give you a postive A + rating, which I am sure you deserve.

check your FAKE address before giving them out-LOL
there is a morris tract LINE but never has there been a morris tract ROAD
01-31-2013 11:01 AM
We call it road around here. Many people don't even say 'tract' we just say Morris because obviously no one lives in the conservation area. It's the same as Black Hole Rd....few people say road, we just say the family lives on Black Hole or turn left on Black Hole. Black Hole is also a fishing spot on the river, but no one lives in a hole on the river. It's a country thing mikey, city people wouldn't understand.
I tell you what mikey...... I'll accept the package if you deliver it. I don't want anything to happen to it and I don't have any faith in the postal sytem or UPS....I've seen how they handle parcels even with Fragile written all over it.
Did I miss you giving me YOUR address? What was it again?
