Over-sea shipping --- buyer report item not received yet...may need some advice

Hi everybody

I'm fairly new to selling on eBay (last April) and I opened the worldwide market later in fall.

Until then no problem; maybe there are no problems at all.

One buyer in Australia wrote me 3 weeks ago that his item had not showed up yet. I contacted Canada Post, and was informed that it was a 4 to 6 weeks delivery time. I updated the buyer accordingly.

3 weeks later, another email, not received yet.

Can someone give me a clear and defined delivery time for Australia, and how would yoou handle this case?

By the way, I just received confirmation that a shipment to Oregon, USA, from Quebec, Canada, took 4 weeks to arrive.

The other side of the continent is USA... 4 weeks

An item sent to BC ... 3 days

Are the US Customs that picky?

How did you ship the item? Was it by surface? International packages shipped by surface parcel can take a long time to arrive.. 2-3 months is not uncommon. If you shipped it by air, the standard is 7-10 business days, but can sometimes take a bit longer.

Also, when did you ship the item? You may be able to claim insurance with CP if you shipped it before the 14th.

I have been told by CP that I could not claim anything before 75 days following the mailing.

At present time, I have problem for a delivery in Australia.
