Domestic Lettermail Price Change
The basic letter rate for Standard (S/L) items up to 30 g increased to $0.54 effective January 12, 2009, reflecting a two-cent increase for 2009 only. Changes to specifications and associated prices for Irregular Oversize Lettermail were not introduced. Some Lettermail prices differ from what was included in customer communications in July. Refer to revised Lettermail Price Sheet for details.
DOES THIS MEAN that we don't have to worry about BENDABLE vs. NON-BENDABLE at this time?
I am asking because while in Ottawa I took the time to ask several postal employees and no one knew how it was going to be done. I also asked here at home...two different post offices and same answer, "We don't know."

I think they might have dropped the "bendable" thing. Yesterday, 10 minutes before they closed for the year, I inquired at my local post office and they said had neither received the templates nor were they going to worry about it; just accepting mail as usual.
Happy New Year!

One of them did mention the other day that there will be changes to Light Packet and bubble envelopes shipped as lettermail in Canada. She didn't know what they would be. I am sure we will find out soon enough.
Happy New Year to all!!

I wonder if this will be similar or did some heavy hitters weigh in on the case.

For large volume mailers, requires pre-sorting.

I'm glad to see that the changes are minimal as it will make shipping adjustments a breeze this go round...even if only for a short time!
Thanks all!

I spoke to a supervisor yesterday and asked if I put the "do not bend sticker" on it will I have to pay the new pricing. She stated yes, more than likely. Anything that doesn't go through the sorter and won't bend properly through that thing (that no PO seems to have received yet) will have the new pricing.
She also said she wasn't sure if that pricing is going to go into effect on Jan 12/09 as it seems no PO has received these tools when they have to manually sort.
I don't think any Post Office person has a clue as to how this is going to work.

I see you changed your ID again! It caught me off guard!
I'm thinking, as has been mentioned, that for now we don't have to worry about bending or not bending as they don't have the pricing even available on the Canada Post website.
None of the post offices I went into and/or called had stickers either.
Hopefully this new category will never come to be!

Yes I changed my name, not sure if I like it though. I'll try it for a month. I was reading some of my emails from when I was getting support from Ebay when I first became a seller and many of them thought I should change my name to reflect Scrapbooking more.
I'm glad to hear about CP removing the info from the website, for now at least.

I just realized that I didn't need to change my user ID only my store name. I wonder if I'll ever get things straight in here. Well I guess I am stuck with it for 29 more days. Then I'm going back to faerywishes.
Oh well, you live you learn...sometimes it just takes me longer 🙂

I am not making any changes to my shipping despite the increases. For 2 years now I've been undercharging to meet a "price point"...say charging $3.95 when I should be charging $4.40 but when the dollar took a drastic drop I didn't make any changes. At that point the Christmas shopping season was in full swing and we had already spent weeks and weeks revising listings once and again and again to meet all the policy changes and new policy changes on top of the old policy changes! Anyhow now I'm getting pretty much what it costs me and can absorb the small increments and keep my price points....yeah! When that Canadian dollar goes up again though I will have to take another look at it.
