The Canadian postal service introduced new services this spring. Canada Post retired the Small Packet - USA Ground service and introduced two trackable services for U.S. and International shipments: Tracked Packet - USA and Tracked Packet - International.

eBay Canada told sellers Monday, "After investigating community reports of pricing inconsistencies, we've learned that in some cases sellers buying labels for Tracked Packet USA and Tracked Packet International on PayPal are being overcharged." PayPal Canada had launched the new services on the PayPal label printing flow on April 9, 2013.

Each time I use Tracked Packet US at a local postal outlet, for parcels 500 grams to 1.0 kg , the cost has never been the same....

Iif Paypal is directly tied into the Canada Post website... that could be an explanation of why the value has not been a constant.

I suspect the problem was with Pitney Bowes who administers the system.

Could that have something to do with the fuel surcharge?

Fuel surcharge changes monthly during the first week of the month. Has been changing slightly each month since Tracked Packet was introduced.

Current month

April 1, 2013 through May 5, 2013 6.25%

March 4, 2013 - March 31, 2013 5.00%

February 4, 2013 - March 3, 2013 4.75%

January 14, 2013 – February 3, 2013 5.25%

Estimated for next month

May 6, 2013 through June 2, 2013 6.25%

From 5% this past month to 6.25% this current month would not be "slighty" as I posted, LOL.

Is it me or I'm getting overcharged even for Expedited Parcel. Before we had something close to 25% off in Canada, but now I seem to get something close to 12% (1.73$ discount on 14.38$ price).

PayPal Expedited Parcel discount was reduced from 25 to 18%.

Changes were effective April 9th.

Be sure to compare the 18% to the full rate on Canada Post. If you are comparing to Venture One discounted 5% rates, then you will get a reduction of 12-13%.

Alright thanks for pointing that out. I missed it. I guess it's time to get a commercial account. I already have a crappy computer bought on TigerDirect and a Thermal Printer for my shipping. Last time I checked, the rates were approximately the same as Paypal but now I'll have a clear advantage. I'll also take advantage of the Scheduled pickup whoohoo!
